Vraiment une très belle maison avec des hôtes très attentionné avec nous Nous avons eu un bris du réservoir d’eau chaude et nos hôtes on vraiment tout fais pour régler le problème au plus vite. Nous avons vue plusieurs animaux sur notre site. La vue est magnifique Nous étions deux familles de trois et nous avions en masse d’espace dans la maison

The house and property are amazing! Toucans and Parrots by the deck. We had a great time and the view is amazing. The owners and Amanda were responsive to every question and gave us advice on where to go and what to not miss. Matapalo is quieter and laid back and the traffic is much better. It’s central to Quepos and Dominical. Very convenient! So nice to have the boogie boards, soccer ball and ice chest for the beaches. Do Not forget your 4wd, it’s essential! 1st trip is a little overwhelming but after that it’s a breeze!

This is a beautiful property. The owner is fantastic, friendly and very responsive. We loved her recommendations of places to go and was overall so helpful.We had a lot of issues with no hot water or no water at all. The power would go out daily (sometimes for 15 mins and other times 12 hours). The owner was always sending help right away. We loved the view and the peace and quiet. The explanation of the property explains that the Hill to the property is very steep and this is very true. I’m very glad that I had my husband driving me because I was very nervous about it.The property was very centrally located to all of the things that we wanted to do. We did an Atv tour through the rainforest. Dominical (15 min drive) was really fun to visit and eat, grab a coffee and we visited the BM market daily. The owner also recommended La Parcela a restaurant nearby. That was absolutely fantastic with incredible views.

Though the property was pretty, the location of the house was highly inconvenient and difficult. The property was smaller than advertised. It’s located a little less than 4 hours from San Jose and it’s at least a 10 minute drive from the major roadway to the property. There were insects all over the kitchen sink and under the counter.

My daughter nailed it when she said “mama, this house has everything!”. It really does. The kitchen is very well appointed, the beach toys and supplies are such a nice touch, the house is clean, the rooms are comfortable, the outdoor seating is lovely, and that pool … the house is flawless. We truly didn’t want for anything. And having access to a washer and dryer allowed us to travel lighter. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful home with us!! Note: you do need a 4x4 vehicle to access this house.

We greatly enjoyed this property. The natural environment is gorgeous. I would recommend for anyone seeking a quiet place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We heard the howler monkeys, visited by white face capuchins, entertained by a friendly coati and spent time identifying many different birds. I was nervous about the driveway from the reviews. Don’t let that hinder you. It is totally doable! The fresh fruit was a welcome touch.

My wife and I stayed here with our 3 children, ages 7,9 and 12. We had the most amazing time. The view of the jungle and the ocean were beautiful. Our kids loved swimming in the pool. We loved all the wildlife, we saw Toucans and many other birds. There was a Coati that came by a few times that our kids named Buddy. We even had a family of 5 monkeys playing in the trees on our second night. The house was very clean and everything was there for us to easily make our own meals when we wanted. The outdoor grill was also very easy to use and very clean. There are also many great food and attractions very close to the house. We spent a good amount of time in Dominical which is just 10 mins away. They had lots of great restaurants and shops for souvenirs. The beach at Playa Linda was wonderful and not busy at all. Our kids loved playing in the ocean and using the boogie boards that were provided by our host. This was our first trip to Costa Rica, we are hoping to plan another trip and stay at the same house. This has definitely been our favorite vacation to date!

The house is just beautiful from its spacious indoor/outdoor layout to its beautifully appointed decor. Every room has a breathtaking view including one of the bathrooms. Our family loved sitting on the top deck early in the morning and at dusk looking for the toucans, the white-faced coatis and the agotis that would come into the garden. My teens would hang out on the lower deck and said they felt like they were in a Tarzan movie with all the lush trees and jungle sounds. The house even had an outside bathroom with a large glassed-in shower that was used every single day. Portions of the drive to the house and especially the last 100 feet to get to the house were not for the faint of heart especially the first time, but we got more comfortable as the week went by. We would return to this house in a heartbeat. Management was easy to work with, had a lot of great tips and were quick to respond. The bugs only came out late and night and a little Off spray did the trick. Unlike our previous rental home in Uvita, we loved that the entire house was air conditioned. With floor to ceiling windows, we had the best of both worlds as needed. Make sure to eat at the Feliz Langusta which is located at the foot of the hill. The seafood platter was amazing.

I'll start by saying that the house is in a beautiful location on a hill with wonderful views of the forest and the ocean. The outdoor space with the deck and the pool is incredible and very peaceful. All the rooms have glass doors so you feel very integrated with the outdoors .It's also close to some secluded wonderful beaches. The drive up can be a bit scary on the dirt road especially in the dark so keep that in mind. The reason for 3 stars is a property management issue we faced - when we arrived we were told by the manager that the dryer had stopped working and would either be replaced by the next day or our laundry would be taken care of same day. Having a washer dryer was important to us as we had been traveling for a week and we had packed light , knowing we could do our laundry at the house. The next 2 days were spent in numerous messages to the property managers assistant trying to coordinate the laundry pickup and drop off. Communication was poor and not proactive. Long story short , our laundry was not done for the day, the dryer was not replaced , we had to change our plans & I spent hours trying to coordinate all this while I should have been enjoying my vacation. I did communicate to the owner about the issue and they were apologetic. Anyway, laundry was done after multiple delays but this could have been handled so much better. I hope they are able to provide better customer service in the future. If they fix that. I would recommend folks to stay here.!

This house seemed all about the view. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was great. The outdoor space is the best as the acoustics in the house seemed like we were yelling to hear each other, especially when raining. I was not a fan of the muddy road going up nor the steep driveway but again it was all about the view once you were there.

We had the pleasure of staying at this amazing property for four days. The house and grounds match the photos exactly and if anything the pictures don’t fully capture how stunning it is. We were a little unlucky with some rainy weather but having this place to stay/return to every day was a joy. As others mentioned the drive up to the property is a bit of a stressful experience initially, but after the first few times we got the hang of it and it became another memory/part of the adventure. Finally the communication and support from the owner and property manager(s) was top notch. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking to enjoy the pacific coast of Costa Rica.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING HOME. Best home in Costa Rica! The view, the villa, the pool was perfect! Little scary to drive at first but once you get the hang of it it’s fun! Must have 4x4! Every morning was like waking up to sounds of the jungle and enjoying the view! I wish I could have stayed for another week. Our house managers were super helpful and the owners are Amazing! We loved our time here! Our family of 5 enjoyed surfing in Dominical and exploring Manuel Antonio Park. The house is perfect for getting out during the day and cooking in at night. The view is spectacular and we enjoyed waking to birds and wildlife every morning. The driveway is steep so be prepared and definitely have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Ethna was extremely responsive and easy to communicate with anytime needed. We were grateful to have Amanda meet us upon arrival to follow up the driveway and show us the house. We loved our time here and hope to be back very soon!

Wir, eine Familie mit 4 erwachsenen Kindern und Schwiegerkindern haben den Aufenthalt in der Villa von Anfang bis Ende sehr genossen. Die Lage und der Ausblick sind atemberaubend und das Haus bietet alles, was man für einen entspannten Urlaub benötigt. Täglich kamen uns Tukane, Papageien, Greifvögel und Nasenbären besuchen - einmal sogar eine ganze Bande von Kapuzineräffchen und ein junger Weißwedelhirsch. Der wunderschöne weitläufige Matapalo-Strand, wo wir uns gerne Surfbretter ausgeliehen hatten, ist mit dem Auto nur 5 Minuten vom Haus entfernt. Dort findet man auch Einkaufsmöglichkeiten für den täglichen Bedarf. Ein kleines Problem gab es dann aber doch mit dem Gästeservice: Als wir beim Haus ankamen funktionierte die Overflowfunktion des Pools nicht. Wir haben dies freitagsmorgens an die Hausverwaltung weitergeleitet, die das Problem aber wohl schon kannte. Trotzdem dauerte es bis Dienstag und brauchte einen weiteren Anruf unsererseits bis das Problem behoben wurde. Alles in allem tat dies einem wundervollen Aufenthalt in dieser wunderschönen und modernen Villa keinen Abbruch.

Beautiful house is situated high on the hill in a very private setting. The house has all of the amenities and felt like home as soon as we walked in. Enjoyed the pool and oversized covered deck and bbq area. We saw toucans, coatis and a deer walked through. We never tired from the ocean view and the sunsets. Four wheel drive was absolutely necessary for the driveway and we recommend traveling in the first time during daylight hours.

Had an amazing trip to Costa Rica with our family. Host was extremely responsive from the start and answered every question as well as provided recommendations for activities and restaurants. Home was beautiful, pool amazing , and full of windows and views. 4 x 4 must to reach the home safely as described. ( my husband and boys loved the drive up), You feel like you are in the tree tops and having breakfast very morning with the toucans was amazing. Highly recommend !!!!

We are a Canadian family of 6 with 4 children (17-20). We travel every year for University reading week and have been to some beautiful places, but this has been our favourite family trip! The Villa was more than we could have ever dreamed of; we made memories that will last a lifetime. We are so grateful to Eithne and Tim for sharing their piece of paradise. We had coffee and yoga with the Toucans almost every morning! We watched the macaws soar from the lovely outdoor BBQ deck. We were visited by a couple green Parakeets and an iguana by the pool. The pool was the perfect size so all could enjoy, we have been to CR before and the pool was quite small so this was a great surprise. The prime location of the villa allowed us to visit multiple beaches, waterfalls and restaurants. A few highlights included: Matapalo beach, for body boarding and 5 scarlet macaws in the trees watching us, whale tail at low tide, the hike to the Nayauca waterfall, Ojochal waterfall, surf lessons with Jeudy and Jacob at Costa Rica Explorer. Loved Dominical and Lunch at Mongo Congo and a trip to Manuel Antonio where we saw Sloths and lots of monkeys, the beach here was stunning as well! Last nights dinner at La Parcela was breathtaking, go early for the view and a visit from the monkeys. We had a flight change and Eithne was very supportive and accommodating. Take the advice and be sure you get the 4X4, the hill up requires it. Still in awe. Thank you again, we hope to return. Michelle and family.

We had an amazing stay at Villa Matapalo. The house is lovely and very comfortable. The view from the new deck area is just stunning and we spent a great deal of time there bird watching, listening to the howler monkeys, watching some coatis come to eat from the banana trees and just relaxing. Also, the resident Tucans will keep you entertained pool side for hours. Ethna and Tim are great hosts and were very easy to communicate with. We can't wait to go back.

This place did not disappoint! Nestled in the jungle we enjoyed wildlife and incredible views from the pool and outside living areas. It was close to beaches and quaint little villages where you could gather all you need in terms of food and drink. While there was lots to do in the surrounding areas we actually enjoyed spending most of our time here. Trust me, rent the 4x4 and make the drive here, it’s worth it!

Leading up to our trip, I had doubts the property could possibly be as nice as the pictures. I was wrong. The property is simply stunning. The layout of the house was perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed the pool every day and marveled at the views from dozens of comfy spots in the back yard. The wildlife was another star of the show. Toucans, Macaws, Coatis, and many more. Very helpful hosts gave us great tips for activities, restaurants and attractions. Only complaint was some issues with the hot water, but this was resolved in a timely manner. We would 100% stay again.

Matapalo Villa Review MAGNIFICO! Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay at this villa. The expansive ocean view is spectacular! Plenty of shade with a beautiful new outdoor rancho sitting area, (finding shade can be a problem with some villas), as you definitely need to get out of the mid-day sun! Situated only 2 kms off the highway on a road that is quite well maintained. Daily wildlife spottings included Toucans, Coatis & a pair of Yellow-headed Caracaras. Two excellent restaurants within a 10-minute drive: Matapalo Supper Club (reservations required) & La Lagousta Feliz (seafood specialty). Beautiful Matapalo Beach, huge & deserted, is also within a 10-minute drive. No lifeguards, so as with all the beaches on the Pacific be careful with the rip tides by being aware of the tides. Matapalo is close to both Quepos (20-25 minutes) & Dominical (15-20 minutes) for groceries. Informative, quick & pleasant communication with property owner before & during our stay. We loved our stay. Would definitely return, ….which says it all!

Lovely home. Spacious both internally and externally. Fab pool. Well equipped kitchen. Met by property manager who was a joy to deal with. He welocmed us with a lovely 'gift box' of fruit, coffee and a bottle of wine which was much appreciated...especially the wine as we all needed some to revive us after our drive up the hillside to get the property! Definitely need a 4x4 for that but once you see the views and the house, it was all worth it. Had a great time whilst there. Two issues cropped up with the house but the speed with which the property manager replied and had workmen on site was stunning, Having been in 4 different rental properties during our stay in Costa Rica, this was by far the best! The owner of the property was fab too. Communication was fab. They provided us with lots of local info prior to and during our stay which was really helpful to us. Thank you for making our trip to Costa RIca worthwhile.

The house is well appointed with a specular view. Being up on the hill overlooking the ocean allowed for wildlife watching, as well as sunsets that end the day perfectly! Each day we travelled the local area hiking through Manuel Antonio National Park, zip lining at Hacienda Baru, exploring the waterfalls in Uvtia, and lounging on the beach in Dominical. We ate at many roadside "soda" restaurants, which allowed for us to experience the "typical meal." The house had a well equipped kitchen, both inside and outside, which afforded us a comfortable setting for breakfast and dinner each day. The new outdoor kitchen and bathroom are beautiful. We ate in the outdoor kitchen for most meals, and lounged on the couches watching the lizards and toucans every evening. The drive up the hill and the driveway down to the house are not for the faint of heart. It took a few days to get use to the climb up the road and steep grade down to the house. A large 4x4 is a MUST. We did not go out driving in the rain at night because of the road and driveway, but it did not matter since we had all we needed at the house. The infinity pool was perfect for relaxing evenings watching the sunset. My family loved our vacation to Costa Rica and our stay at this villa.

I really can’t say enough good things about our stay in Savegre. To start off, the property is located on a beautiful hillside overlooking the ocean, with views that are simply stunning. Photographs can’t do justice to the poolside vistas. Add to that all the wildlife that came by during the course of our stay: coatis, toucans, and a whole troop of spider monkeys that swang through to trees next to house one evening. The nearby Manuel Antonio national park is great for a guided tour and sightings of a range of local fauna. But, honestly, we saw even more animals sitting out on the deck (with a glass of wine) than we did on our nature walks. It’s great to be off the beaten path!The house itself is not just well situated, it’s beautiful, modern, comfortable and a great place for any length of stay. If there are any drawbacks at all, it is the road up to the property, but a four-wheel-drive vehicle makes easy work of that. Well worth the effort to be in such a charming place. I should also mention how helpful the hosts were. Somehow, when we moved on to the next leg of our trip, we managed to leave one of our passports under a bed at the property. We didn’t discover this until we were five hours away. But the host very graciously helped coordinate the recovery of the passport and its transit to our next destination. A real lifesaver! I don’t know what we would’ve done without their help. They were very responsive throughout and their local property manager was very helpful as well. If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience in Costa Rica, I recommend the property highly. It’s something special!
