The property itself was nice and could have been a great stay. It’s a large apartment with 3 rooms, and we had 7 guests, that all fit comfortably.
However, after a cold day in Rome (December), we anticipated having a warm place to come back to. The heater in my room- the en-suite - didn’t work. The WiFi was very unreliable (as they point out in the agreement). The only option to contact someone after hours is through calling, and the WiFi drops the call and makes it difficult to hear. So our “conversation” was mostly asking if we could hear each other and me getting frustrated I wasn’t receiving help.
The staff on call just told me to use a space heater and I’d be fine. (In broken English). She wouldn’t listen that I already had done that and was still cold, or that I felt unsafe using a space heater all night because of fire dangers. We were able to find 1 extra blanket in the whole place that I huddled under all night. 1 extra blanket, 7 people.
Communication with the staff the next day was terrible. They said I have to respect working hours and that the space heater was sufficient. They knew the wall heater didn’t work. Again, did not listen to my concerns.
Maybe I’m being very American, but if you are renting a place and there is a problem, it’s your responsibility to take care of it, no matter what the business hours are.
I feel the place should not have been available to rent, or the lack of heat should have been disclosed.
