« Excellent stay at the Chequers Inn again for a week for the New Year. Beautiful room, good food, clean, lovely staff - shout out to Angela who went above & beyond for us! Lovely compassionate email sent to us following the very sad death of my Dad whilst we were away. Only downside - the bar closed at 10:30pm on New Years Eve! We will definitely return. »

« Bel hôtel situé dans un joli cadre avec le lac. Les chambres sont spacieuses, de même que la salle de petit-déjeuner et restauration qui offre une très belle vue sur le parc et le lac. Le spa est aussi un plus bien appréciable. Enfin le personnel est très sympathique. »

« Unfortunately the room requested was not available as we had our small dog with us so were allocated a dog friendly room which was fine but it only had a 4’6 bed which really is not expected these days. Following the downgrading of the room by the hotel and being advised that the room requested would be cheaper. The new price unfortunately was not honoured despite numerous requests for a refund so overall not the best experience. »

« Reported toilet not flushing before we went out for dinner, staff said they would fix it while we were out, come back not fixed had to phone again they tried again unsuccessfully and only then offered different room this was 9 o'clock in the evening. Think this could have been handled net »

« The room seemed clean, dirty towel that was left was removed after this was pointed out. Room was well equipped with coffee maker and kettle, nice modern bathroom. To our surprise the room was not cleaned during the day and towels not refreshed. Also coffee, tea, water etc was not replenished. Breakfast in the local pub across the square was not good. No fresh fruit for instance and the used ingredients were not the best. »

« The room was clean, with modern/quirky tech features. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs, providing a place to store our luggage after the check out time. The hotel is in a good location for the Redjet passenger ferry and the high street with bars and restaurants. It is also located a few mins walk from the taxi rank and bus stop that has connections to Newport. »

« Friendly staff, clean rooms and quite comfortable. I would have scored it higher if the thermostat on the radiator was working. The room became uncomfortably warm during the night, and I had to open the window because I couldn’t adjust the radiator »

« We booked 2 sea view rooms for 3 nights. Only one room had a sea view and the bathroom in that room had black mould around the ceiling. The other room had a very old mattress and the bedding was old and thin. The pillows in that room were flat. We checked out after 1 night and will not be back. Whilst the staff were friendly, this hotel needs refurbishment, new mattresses, new duvets, pillows, blankets and linen. Mould is injurious to health and no hotel of the calibre that this hotel...

« On arrival our room was upgraded to a large seaview room with a walk in shower which was a very nice welcome. The Pump room bar is excellent with a cozy atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food both at breakfast and in the evening venues is top notch. Dining is a particular highlight which should not be missed with a very good menu expertly prepared and served to a really high standard. »
