I have serious concerns about the hosts communication, and the rooms security and cleanliness. For starters, they require you to cashapp them a deposit before checking in, even through directly under the message Expedia tells you specifically to not pay using third party apps. Then they say they’ll send you check in info around 2:00pm and if you don’t they give you a number to call. After calling the number more than once and going to voicemail, I got a phone call from the host at 2:30pm saying he would text me check-in information in 10-15 minutes. I followed up with a text at 3:30pm because I still received nothing. He finally responded with check-in information at 4:30pm.
When I arrived and entered through the 1st keypad door, the 2nd keypad door was not locked (remained unlocked throughout the trip). I went to my assigned room to find the door unlocked, bed slept in and messy, towels on the floor, dirty rug, clearly “lived in”. I immediately called the host multiple times and did not get an answer until I texted him. He assigned me to a new room that was 50 degrees and took several hours to warm up. The shower floor was dirty, shower curtain ripped, stains in the towels. The bed pillows were decorative pillows with pillow cases on them. I expressed concern about people on porch trying to get into the building without a code but got no response. The battery in my door lock also died and I was unable to lock the door from the outside for part of my trip.
