Set in a private 5 acre corner of Sylvan Glen Estate, The Cottage sits on a ridge between the golf course and a neighbouring vineyard. The 320 sqm house sits surrounded by mature gardens and native Scribbly gum trees and has been thoughtfully designed to provide a high quality and memorable self contained stay.

It's the perfect venue for families up to 18, golf groups, small conferences, sensible bucks and hens groups and celebrations for up to 30 guests. The village of Penrose is 1 1/2 hours from either Sydney or Canberra, 10 minutes off the Hume highway, a short drive to the many food and wine options of the Southern Highlands.

Its many inclusions and features include
3 large queen bedrooms each with shower en-suite with space for a cot or roll out bed,1 double room with bath and shower en-suite, with a king bed in one room and two king single beds in the other 1 Bunkhouse attached to the main residence complete with 8 single beds in bunk layout and a sofa bed, with basin vanity and separate Lavatory - perfect for kids or adults who don't snore! Large dining room with table to seat 20 just off the fully equipped country kitchen with lots of bench prep space, gas top and electric oven, 2 large fridges, dishwasher etc Complimentary use of the estates 9 hole golf course subject to availability. Fireplaces and a supply of firewood both indoor and out are a must for cosy times. Air-conditioning in living and dining rooms including the bunkhouse plus fans/heaters in the bedrooms Games room with table tennis, surround sound cinema and projector for movies and classic Nintendo and playstation consoles with games to relive the 90’s! Quality BBQ and pizza oven in the outdoor undercover kitchen. Loads of space for bike riding and walking (with furry babies!) along quiet country lanes and don't forget Penrose and Wingello state forests are only 5 mins bike ride away. Children's play area complete with laddered cubby house and deck, lots of lego, in ground trampoline, slide and tyre swing Two covered decks - perfect for after lunch wine and chat plus WiFi and Netflix

I’d been here before, but now had a better camera, my Samsung S10 phone. These days I rarely use my accumulated Nikon gear, saving it for telephoto and night shots only. I hadn’t fitted flowers into my calculations, but there they were, flexing their leaves to the tune of the falling rain. Only one other couple were present and they were 300 metres in front. I had it basically all to myself. There’s something fulfilling about being surrounded by nature in all its forms. Had a lovely family weekend getaway. Plenty of space for 17 people. The house had everything we needed. Kitchen was well stocked, plenty of bathrooms, loved the fireplace inside and the fire pit outside. Host Matt was very responsive to questions and a great host. Definitely recommend!

Lovely Property and Host

This was our second trip here and everything was as perfect as we remembered. The property is lovely, clean, has everything you could possibly need for a trip away with family and friends, including a very well stocked / equiped kitchen. So manly lovely indoor and outdoor spaces to spend time.. kids, adults and dogs all had a wonderful time. The host Matt is very friendly and responsive. We will be back again for sure.

Amazing property!

I loved staying at the Scribbly Cottage, especially considering I was able to bring my doggo. Matt was very responsive and accommodating. We admittedly have a loud group and had to pipe down as we found out there was a wedding reception on the estate that got wind of our shenanigans. I felt it was dealt with correctly - just something to keep in mind when you're after a spot in the middle of nowhere to be as loud as you wish ;) The only thing we missed was a shared shower for the bunk bed room, but again - easy solve. Thanks Matt, we had a great time!

Great stay!

Host was very accommodating and responsive to all questions. Provided clear instructions on how to get to Penrose. The place was amazing, clean and spacious. We had a large group of children and adults who thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close to Glow Worm Glen Walk. Would totally recommend this place to anyone.

Peaceful and relaxing

We chose Sylvan Glen Cosy Cottage for our annual extended family weekend away and had a fantastic time exploring the property and its surrounds. House was great and 'cosy'...! Outside firepit also a big hit, as was the golf course and table tennis. Pizza oven was well used and served (fortunately) as a second oven as we hadn't realised the BBQ did not have a hood to do our roasts! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - enough space and things to do for all ages, set amongst tranquil surrounds, ideal for large groups wanting to enjoy a country escape. Thanks Matt for answering all our questions and ensuring we were comfortable.

Beautiful property with an incredible host

Such a beautiful property with a fantastic host who was so responsive and helpful throughout the whole process, even with responding to a number of my questions in the lead up. A great place with lots of room and perfect for a get together. The only tricky thing was it was hard to get find but I think that was just because the gps took some people strange ways. Family Gathering

This was the best place to stay. Close to Sydney, excellent roomy accommodation, with enough bathrooms to make everyone happy. The living areas made it possible to still have an enjoyable time regardless of the wet weather. The nearby golf course was a real plus for our family, as the serious golfers had a game and the rest of us had a pretend! The fire pit, bbq area and cubby house were fabulous! No need to leave t Sylvan Glen. But nearby Bundanoon, Exeter, and Berrima and Bowral had visits too! Great place ….we want to come back!

Would stay here again

I had originally booked this property last year before lockdown hit. Matt was very understanding and super accommodating when it came to re-booking. The property is in a beautiful location with great amenities, we especially loved the outdoor area. All the guests raved about the property - we were all very comfortable and there was enough space to all gather as a large group, or separate off into smaller groups. Would definitely recommend this place!

Seclusion at its finest

Property is extremely well maintained and nestled in it's own private area away from the hustle and bustle of the world. I cannot recommend staying here enough. Campfires, retro gaming items, modern cooking and plenty of space. Great communication with the property manager as well who was always a text away. You won't regret it!
