Horseshoe Valley Farm Cottage

A private, rustic farmhouse on a working farm, where your group or family can spend quality time together in this century farmhouse and enjoy the quiet space around. Decorated with country charm and with modern conveniences. There is a significant amount of space for kids to play, plus a campfire area to roast s'mores and watch the fireflies on a hot summer's night. In the winter, the farm offers ample room to park equipment (ie. snowmobiles, trailers and ski equipment) and enjoy the many winter opportunities that are available close by. Situated minutes from many amenities including Bass Lake Provincial Park, swimming, boating, bike/hike trails, Burl's Creek Concert Venue, ice fishing, and both downhill and cross country skiing (Hardwood Hills, Horseshoe Resort, Mount St. Louis Moonstone) This beautiful farmhouse is at the gateway to cottage country. Horseshoe Valley Farm is a great place to stay to get away from the city to relax and rejuvenate.

There are three cozy bedrooms and two complete bathrooms. Guests will have access to free Wi-fi, Netflix, as well as the peaceful enjoyment of strolling around the property.
There is a charming porch to enjoy your morning coffee and listen to the frogs and watch the birds.

This reservation has a Flexible cancellation policy - refunds will be issued up to 30 days prior to the check in date.

When we saw how quickly Sheryl replied to our questions (which were answered if I just read everything already posted) we knew there would not be any problems. The place was as described, clean, comfortable and we were in love with the old farmhouse! It's very quiet and lots of room!! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Springtime at the Farmhouse

Immersed ourselves in the farm experience - loved the long tree-lined driveway which we walked several times a day, the mature trees shading our afternoon conversations on the covered porch, and the peaceful sound of a gentle breeze blowing across the fields. This was springtime at the farm.

Great place

If you are looking for a cosy, quiet, beautiful and private place, this is the place to go. Everything is as described. It is a lovely old farm house. The area is great for mountain biking with many many trails close to the cottage. The only thing that would be missing is a washing machine ;)

A wonderful Farmhouse Stay

This old farmhouse was full of charm - the decor brought back memories of visiting grandparents when we were kids. The beds and bedding were comfortable and clean. We prepared simple meals without difficulty. It also had all the modern day amenities such as Wifi, satelite and smart TV (not that we turned on any TV). Sheryl was very responsive and accomodated a change in check-in time. The property was fabulous - beautiful sunrise over the field, a long laneway that setting the home away from the main road, a fire pit, and ample space for our doggie guest. Lastly, the location was fantastic as it was minutes from Hardwood Hills, Horseshoe Resort, and a grocery store with LCBO. Highly recommended! The only reason we gave 4 stars for cleanliness was because a few utensils had been put away dirty.

Quaint Old Farmhouse

Not being able to contact the owner directly, to ask a few questions, either with a phone call or an email, prior to leaving a deposit, was frustrating, but that’s all laid on VRBO and their policies. That being said, our weekend stay at the property was pleasant and everything was as advertised. A great place for a quiet retreat, on this very private property. Thank you!

Winter weekend getaway

A Perfect Country Christmas....

The property was amazing! The house was exactly as described, and pictured. In addition, the house had all of the required amenities (and then some), to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Warm cozy blankets and a fireplace were delightful at night with a hot cup of cocoa! A nice surprise - was the house had beautiful Christmas decorations which made our family reunion even more memorable and special in celebrating the holiday! The beds were super cozy and comfortable and the bathrooms super clean and spacious! Outside - there were trails to walk and lots of privacy. My little Salter pup loved running around on the farm and in the fields. The house was set far back from any major roadway so it was very safe for her to run around outside. Our host, Sheryl was very responsive to my questions and provided excellent information prior to arrival and popped in to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was excellent - close enough to Orillia to run into Mariposa Market to pick up some yummy goodies, but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country - and to reconnect and recharge. If you are heading to Orillia and/or surrounding area - this is the place to stay! You will NOT be disappointed and will return refreshed and ready for your regular daily grind! Absolutely Wonderful Stay

Two families - ours and a friend's spent Thanksgiving weekend on this wonderful farmhouse property. We had a excellent stay. Sheryl, the host was very responsive in her communication. The farmhouse itself was quaint, rustic, authentic. The area is beautiful. Would highly recommend it to get away from the bustle in the quiet of rural Ontario.

A pleasant stay in the country.

This farm house has everything you need for a comfortable stay in the country. The surroundings were very pretty and peaceful. Being pet friendly was a must, and our dog loved it - especially being able to see goats for the first time. The host was very welcoming, and brought us a very tasty apple pie! A great place to stay.

A super cute and cozy place to stay!

This was such a cute and cozy place to stay. The farmhouse is in a secluded area where you can't hear cars or traffic. It's so peaceful. The property is close to Bass Lake Provincial Park where you can swim or take kayaks/boats out. The lake is absolutely beautiful! The farmhouse itself is equipped with all necessities such as kitchen items and linens. They also have a game room with an air hockey table and lots of board games! They have a fire pit in the back perfect for summer nights. Sheryl is also an amazing host and was so prompt with her responses. The check in and check out process was super easy. Will definitely stay here again!!

Exceptional farmhouse vacation

Our 3 generations loved sharing this classic original farmhouse on a private beautiful country property in the springtime. The host was easy to communicate with (very friendly and accomodating) and the house had everything we needed, from toys to kitchen utensils. The occasional tractor on this working farm was exciting for the kids to see. We loved seeing wildflowers in the woods and enjoying picnics in the many porches and outdoor seating areas (fire pit, new BBQ, etc). We would love to come back another time to try mountain biking or canoeing nearby with the kids, and explore more of the great hiking trails. A country setting with basic creature comforts and some nice extra touches and beautiful views with fields, apple trees, lawn/garden, and forest. Very pleased with our stay!!

Nice home

House was nicely furnished and owners were very responsive. The room with the air hockey table is an unheated room (has space heaters) off of the kitchen, might work well in the summer but in the winter you can't run the space heater and the air hockey table at the same time so wasn't nearly as useful as we had planned on. That was one of the main attractions for us selecting the house. Otherwise all was good.

Thanksgiving Getaway
