We had a fantastic family vacation in Ireland. Macepool House was our home base (we spent 2 days in Killarney) and we loved it. Serena and Jim were so kind and absolutely lovely. The property is gorgeous our kids loved the pony, sheep and chickens. The beds were so comfortable and the rain showers-divine. We would definitely recommend Macepool House to everyone!
This is truly a special place. We were a multi-generational group. My mom, my grandmother who is 93, my three sons ranging in age from 9 years to 10 months, and myself. I am not sure where to begin. The entire home is beautifully restored while still maintaining its old-world charm. We marveled at every detail from the flowers framing the window to the cut lavender in the bedroom. There are beautiful little spots to sit outside and the friendliest pony will come over for a head scratch if you stand at the fence. We were close to many things like Glendalough, Dublin/Malahide, the Hill of Tara, Newgrange, and Carlingford. We were even close to the airport but you would never know it! A big thanks to Jim and Serena for sharing this beautiful place with us. The Bertomeus.
Our stay at Macepool was something out of a dream! Pulling up to this beautifully restored gem with its adorable little garden and sheep pasture out front is everything you could imagine a country house in Ireland could be! The house was spacious and absolutely gorgeous. Obviously renovated with great care and so much attention to detail! Jim & Serena were the most gracious hostsâŠeven leaving us a lovely bowl of freshly picked strawberries as well as apples, cakes and jelly beans. So thoughtful! The location of the house was an easy drive from the airport and close to stores and restaurants.
