I came from Florida with 10 friends including myself and the property was beautiful. It was perfect size for my group and we had plenty of room. I will say that the constant up and down the mountain was a lot for my group, but we are all from Florida and are used to very flat land. I will say at night, there are no street lights on the mountain and itâs very dark. Our Ubers would speed, and it was terrifying. So if you could rent a car, that would probably be best. Besides that, the view from the top was stunning and the host was very nice and checked in on us via text mid trip to see if we needed anything.
My Bridal party stayed here for my wedding weekend. This house is so beautiful and unique every room has a different personality and its truly such an amazing property. The property manager Nick was so helpful with everything. We will be back for sure! Thanks again!
So unique!! Nick, property manager, was super communicative and helpful. House was well stocked with all kitchen and linen items needed. Our seven adult family members really enjoyed the very private pool. Views of the city from all sides are incredible from the 1200' altitude. Roads to get there are not flat or straight, but the small pain was worth the big gain. Will definitely stay there again if in LA!!
Ever want to live like a 1950âs movie star? Let your imagination run wild between this mission style home, the gorgeous pool, and if you are really lucky the smog will get blown away revealing the mountain range out every window.
We have loved this property, it was clean, had everything we needed including coffee, plenty of towels, lots of dishes, even hair mask (!), clean pool which we didn't get to use due to our schedule. I would 1000% recommend this property to anyone looking to stay near the area.
Overall, our stay at this proper was a mixed bag. The location was absolutely stunning, as it was nestled atop a mountain, offering breathtaking views. It truly felt like a serene getaway. However, there were a few drawbacks that affected our overall impression.
Let's start with the positives - although the kitchen was a bit dated, it was well stocked with all the necessary items. It would have been a delight to cook in if not for the functional issues with the stove/oven. Unfortunately, it wasn't fully operational, which was inconvenient.
The bathrooms had been updated, which was a plus. However, there was an important detail that wasn't disclosed in the property description - we discovered signs stating that excess toilet paper should be placed in the trash, not the toilet. It would have been helpful to know this in advance, as it could influence one's decision to stay at the property.
One of the main drawbacks of our experience was the property manager. Unfortunately, he wasn't the friendliest or most accommodating individual. He didn't provide sufficient explanations regarding certain aspects of the property, such as the keybox, and he didn't allow for early check-in, which could have enhanced our stay. Additionally, when we inadvertently left a few items behind, his response was not accommodating. Instead of finding a suitable solution, he simply left our belongings in a trash bag and left it at the front door, which was disappointing and unprofessional.
I rented the property to bring my extended family together for Thanksgiving. The property is amazing and full of old world charm. The retro professional kitchen met all of our needs and we had more than enough dining space for 8. We will return to this gem.
The castle is as advertised and the views are amazing. Getting there is pretty scary due to the curves up the mountain but once you get there, the castle and views are awesome. We were a family of 10 and all fit comfortably. My only issue was a drainage issue in one of the showers. Otherwise the castle was very cool to stay at and we enjoyed it. Thank you.
Really no complaints on the renting process, and the communication up until the day of the rental. The rules seemed pretty straight forward, send the owners of the property which happened to be a third party management company called, âEvolveâ a picture of my ID 48 hrs before check-in at 4p to get gate code access and lock box instructions.
This was done on my end, and then nothing was ever communicated back to me. The day of check-in, still no information on gate code access, or lock box instructions. So naturally, I called the number that on the contact page. Turns out the gentleman I spoke with was the manager of the cleaning service that Evolve uses when they turn over the house after guests complete their stay. He said that he never received my ID photo, and for me to text it to him because itâs easier. I replied, âno problemâ and sent a follow up.
Close to the check-in time, I still received no confirmation, no information about gate code access, or any lock box instruction. I called the gentleman that I had correspondence with earlier and he said that there would be no need for any of that because the cleaning crew was still turning over the house, and that theyâd let my party in.
As I mentioned before, check in was at 4p and we arrived at the property around 4:30 to give a buffer of time for the cleaning crew to finish the home. They were still not finished cleaning the house. My party and I decided to leave the home to give the crew more time to finish. We came back at 6p and the cleaning crew had just finished up (2 hrs after check in). They unfortunately still did not leave me any gate code information, nor lock box codes. I did not realize this was a problem until more of my party made their way to the house and were locked of the gate that I didnât have codes to( gate was open while the cleaning crew was there). I had to call the cleaning crew manager again and get the gate codes after about 20 mins of waiting.
On check out, the cleaning crew manager still did not think to give me lock box codes for the keys until the absolute last moment as we were trying to leave the property. There was no binder or Manual for myself to familiarize myself with the house, even any first-aid location instructions in case of emergency. No reimbursement for the 2 hrs of time I was not able to be in the house due to cleaning.
Simply put, this rental was way too expensive to have this many hiccups.
Good place. Could use some updates in cookware provided and other amenities. There are signs in all the bathrooms that say to put the toilet paper in the trash can.
If you need a stove, then know it is an old style that is not spotless.
Lots of space to spread out and hang. We enoyed our time at The Castle.
Beautiful Spanish style home. The house is pretty far up into the hills which provided some beautiful city views. Very secluded, private and quiet. Gorgeous upgrades to the bathrooms. I wish the kitchen was upgraded. The stove and oven were very old. Being an older home, it was a little dusty. Towels provided were very low grade. Bring your own towels. (I usually do that anyway.) Overall, I enjoyed my stay!!!
Loved our stay at The Castle. The views cannot be described, they are second to none. The drive up and down the mountain was always lively, many white knuckles (but you get used to it). Coulda used a warning about the no flushing of toilet paper, but that's the only knock (and still worth it). Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
We were a little bit apprehensive with this property at first due to stories and urban legends about the area but it all went away when we arrived at the property. The short uphill climb to the property can be challenging for some drivers but enjoyable for the passengers. The beautiful city lights will serve as your night light at nighttime and the beautiful sunrise is absolutely mesmerizing. The house will definitely bring you back in time, and watch tower is the place to get your sunrise reel and photos. We ended our weekend getaway with a short hike but for advance hikers there are many trails to choose from and all with amazing 360 views. Property manager was quick to respond and very accommodating to our needs. The pool is there for you to look at during winter but a hot tub would have been a great alternative. Definitely an experience to remember.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay. The couple issues we had were taken care of right away by the property manager that lives on site.
The views are amazing! I wish we had been able to spend more time just enjoying the home but we had commitments so basically only slept there.
It would be a great place to just go there, stay and enjoy.
The property had a few cobwebs but with all the intricate woodwork and little nooks and corners, it can expected. The house is majestic and the history of the home was well preserved. I loved it! The on-site people were friendly but we didnât need much because everything was very well laid out in advance. The drive was a bit scary the first time but actually less intimidating in the dark because you could see cars coming around the corners. I wouldnât take more than 2 cars up there. We had 6 adults all reported sleeping better than at home which is a huge compliment. Thankful for the opportunity to experience it. Would return if given a chance.
We stayed there with family (9 people) and this place is beautiful and well kept. Lots of amenities including the pool. Lot of room for everyone to sleep and lounge. Nicely stocked kitchen. The house is really nice and has amazing views. The check in process was smooth and the property manager was very responsive.
My family and I rented this home for our stay in LA. The first time out there was at night and the drive was kinda intimidating. It got a lot better throughout the weekend. The house was big. Kitchen is dated. We didnât use any of the appliances (besides the fridge). There was quite a few spider webs and a few other things that could have been cleaned but overall we enjoyed our stay. There wasnât anything so serious as to reach out to the property manager. Everything went smoothly.
