The most offensive odor was present when we opened the door to our unit. I immediately contacted Sara, at the property management company and explained that it appeared the a/c vents were filthy and required servicing. The air was at 80 degrees which did not help matters. We weren't sure if the odor was a result of old carpet that needs replacement or a combination of that and the a/c ducting which had apparently not been cleaned in years! We immediately experienced issues from the unhealthy air and opened doors and purchased a scented candle from the grocery store. The maintenance man arrived to check the a/c and was helpful, yet unable to locate the filter in order to change it. He removed the air intake and return grids on ceiling and walls and tried his best to clean them. We sent Sara a photo of the filthy a/c intakes and returns and she scheduled someone to check it the following day. She also had the carpets shampooed the next day. The old carpet needs to be replaced with hardwood or tile to prevent odor and improve cleanliness. The unit needs to be freshly painted , and most of all, the a/c ducting needs a complete thorough professional cleaning, not simple a new filter (which was long overdue!) Even after filter replacement , the odor still lingered and made it very unpleasant for the duration of our stay. For the price of this rental, we could have enjoyed a 4 or 5 star hotel with much nicer amenities and no foal odor. We were extremely disappointed with the rental
