My husband and I stayed here with my son and his family (4 adults and 2 children). My other son, who lives in Mount Pleasant, frequently visited with his family, adding another 2 adults and 2 children. Since we were eating in due to COVID, we had all 10 of us there every night for dinner. While it was a squeeze around the dining table, it was fun to be able to have all of us together and the extra seats at the kitchen island came in handy.
It was nice to essentially have 2 master bedrooms. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms was great! We all agreed, however, that the best feature of the house was the screened-in porch. If you asked the grandchildren, their favorite thing was the hammock on the porch.
If we could make some recommendations, they would be:
1) Remove the metal “door mats” at the front and back doors. If you are barefoot and step on them, they burn the bottom of your feet. Ouch!
2) The outdoor shower needs additional slats to make it “private.” Having grown up at the Jersey shore, no one entered the house without first taking a shower outside. It kept the sand out of the house. But without more privacy, people weren't willing to take advantage of the outside shower. Maybe it's only there to rinse off?
3). There are some wicker furniture pieces of furniture on the porch that probably should be replaced. One side of a table has the wicker peeling off one side and some of the chairs have broken strands. It's great having so much seating in the porch but it would be nicer if all the chairs were equally usable.
Overall, this house was an excellent choice for us. It was conveniently located near the beach and the beach was relatively quiet. It was very easy to maintain “social distancing.” If we were to come back to Isle of Palms, we would definitely rent this house again.
