This home was spacious enough to accommodate my family and friends. The home was beautiful and location felt very secluded in a beautiful mountain neighborhood just minutes from FairPlay . I would definitely stay here again!
We found everything as advertised. The property manager was quick to respond. There was an ample supply of paper towels, toilet paper, and soap. The showers even had shampoo and body wash, which was a nice surprise. We loved the town of FairPlay. We saw moose, elk, and deer on the property during our stay.
This property was quite enjoyable. The beds and linens were comfortable, kitchen well stocked and overall floor plan easy to mingle or break off for privacy if needed. Although the downstairs can be noisy, you hear every foot step above you.
Feedback that I also shared with the property manager:
The outdoor boiler was packed full of trash but instructions say not to put trash there. Not sure how or why that's happening. Only realized that because the door to boiler was open when we arrived (with trash nearly falling out).
The front door needs adjusting, it's difficult to open and shut.
Hallway bathroom water pressure in sink was just a trickle of water. Had just enough TP, no more rolls in the house. There should have been more for a house that sleeps 12-15.
To the owners - thank you kindly for choosing to share your beautiful log home with guests. It made for an extra special birthday celebration!
The property has the most beautiful views we have ever seen! We had a lovely family weekend! Magical walks, a fun time in the quaint city of Fairplay, and much laughter as we all played cards in the spacious cabin made the weekend one we will not forget! The kids and grand kids want to go back soon...
We had a great experience here. We did not have contact with the property manager because we didn't need to. The instructions for the house were very helpful. There is some work to be done on the decks and fenced portion of the property, but they are functional and did not affect us having a great time.
The good: as other have noted this is a beautiful log cabin on a beautiful property.
Areas for improvement:
Here are some issues I noticed:
1. There are mice that live in the house and enter/exit thru grates beneath the kitchen sink
2. The backyard balcony really needs to be maintenanced/repaired. It's in pretty rough state: a. Banister is rotting b. Some wood panels are raised and could cause people to trip or little toes to be stubbed.
3. The sofas are really awful and not what were in the photos. They were VERY uncomfortable. You can feel the springs and the backing won't stand at the 3rd position so it's always reclined about 45 degrees.
4. There was no outside tables as indicated in the photos.
5. Forget about getting any response via the VRBO app.
6. There was a leak in the roof during the rain. No big deal, just had to put out a bowl to catch the dripping.
Do not stay here. While the property is beautiful and secluded and quite large, the management and communication is trash. We arrived to find that it had not been cleaned after the previous group- beds are unmade with dirty sheets on top, crumbs everywhere, no counters cleaned, a huge stack of dirty dishes in the sink- OH and no running water. This includes sinks, showers, toilets. One of the toilets in the basement even had human feces sitting in it from the previous group. I immediately tried contacting the property manager and had no luck. I called and texted and left voicemails. Finally I got in touch with the Evolve customer service. The first guy hung up on me. The second gal was a very helpful and told me that unfortunately no running water would be available the entire weekend. They âtriedâ to get in touch with me but apparently the messages didnât get to me in time?? I still have yet to receive any emails, voicemails, or messages through the app that this was the case and the reservation was supposed to be cancelled. The lady tried to help me find a relocation spot but was unsuccessful (it was a holiday weekend and already 7pm Friday night). She said the best she could do was refund me- fine. At this point my group and I decided to stick it out and stay. We had driven hours to be there and weâre kind of stranded. The next day the property manager showed up and came in very hot about how we were not allowed to be there and she was going to call the sheriff. However no one told me I needed to leave the premise previously? I let the women know I would absolutely be compliant and leave if need be, but it was not made clear that was the case and 15 of my friends and I were kind of stuck. Finally by the end she told me we could stay if we were ok with the situation. At that point what else could we do? I then got contacted by evolve that I should not be there. That was a whole other phone call that had to be handled- thankfully we weee able to stay. The whole stay was stressful and super gross. I slept in a bed that a previous person slept in that hadnât been cleaned. We had no running water. We had to take trips to town to use the bathroom. Youâre better off elsewhere- save the headache and hassle itâs not worth it.
Didn't get to stay here, our trip was canceled the night before we were scheduled to go due to heating and plumbing issues. Because of the cancellation, we had to change all of our plans and wound up not being able to see everything we wanted to see in Colorado.
Beautiful home. Well supplied. Much farther to skiing than anticipated. We had thought it was only 8 miles to Ski Cooper but it was much farther. Ended up skiing Breckenridge which was nearly an hour away, but was the closest ski slope. We reported a drainage problem with the dishwasher and bathtub which was fixed before we checked out
The house was absolutely stunning. The listing depicted precisely what the property looked like.
Maintenance appears to be minimal though with an eye to saving money.
One thing I would stress is altitude sickness is real. Out of 13 people 3 became violently ill, headache, nausea and diarrhea. All of us where effected to some degree. I believe the elevation is 10,100â. We were naive but we are also from Florida, Illinois and Iowa. It was so severe for one family that they had to cut their stay short. Just be aware.
If you want a secluded property with easy access to town this is the one for you! Gorgeous views and lots of wildlife. My only issue was the safety of the deck. The railing is weak and shakes, holes are in the deck stairs, and the deck table was unusable due to a broken leg. The grill also does not work. If taking kids you just must use lots of caution! Otherwise it was a great property!
The cabin was exactly how described, very clean and cozy. Easy to find and great communication. Highly recommend staying in the winter wonderland home.
The property was beautiful! Loved the remote location which gave a lot of privacy. Only about 10mins away from town incase we needed to run an errand. Ideal location to visit different places in Colorado. I had no issues with cleanliness of the house everything including bedding was as it should be, house was heated well during the nights low temps. No issues with Wifi connection, I do wish there was more than 1 television in the house for when we were snowed in that way the kids wouldn't have to fight over it maybe in the bedrooms at least. Over all everything about the home was great, 2 families didn't feel like we were crowding each other. I LOVED the fenced in yard so my dogs could roam around without supervision. I do recommend a 4x4 or All wheel drive in the winter we were hit with an over night snow shower and couldn't leave the following day until snow was plowed, but our van could not leave the neighborhood because of icy roads. Had to wait until following day to get out or we would of gotten stuck. Thank you for sharing your home. Would definitely recommend & stay here again.
Loved the privacy and seclusion of the home, felt very comfortable letting our German shorthaired pointer roam and explore the property. My husband and I stayed here with some friends and loved the layout of the house, we took the master which was on its own side of the house away from the other 2 bedrooms on the main floor, so we were happy to have our privacy. Loved the extra space downstairs, however we were unable to use the space because it was unbearably hot, and we could never get the temp below 80 degrees. While the home is far from some of the more popular attractions in Colorado we still found plenty to do without having to travel too far. My only complaint would be the cleanliness of the kitchen, it could use a good deep cleaning, I found I had to wipe the counters and outside of the cabinets down upon entering the home. With that being said I would stay here again.
The property is beautiful and in a great location. We were not impressed with the cleanliness of the property or the fact that WiFi was down and we couldnât connect to the internet for work or even watch the tv that was offered. We contacted the person who was given to us as a contact but didnât hear back until late our last evening.
We would definitely stay there again as long as the cleaning was improved.
Floors were filthy
Beautiful windows that we had to clean to see out of
No top sheet on 2 beds
Dirty towels left behind in 1 bathroom
Coffee pot was absolutely disgusting...we went to town and bought our own to use.
We booked this house for a very small wedding and stayed there with my 4 family
members. Upon driving up we were very pleased with the location and the amount of parking. Once we got in the house there were 2 wasps inside and a mouse. The house has plenty of room but it was not clean. After seeing the list price per night and the large cleaning fee we expected the home to be in good shape. We ended up spending our first hour there wiping everything down. We couldnât eat off of any of the dishes or use any kitchen tools without washing them first. All of the drawers and cabinets were sticky. The insides of the drawers were filled with crumbs and mouse feces. The dishwasher was full. The fridge upstairs and down has stuff spilled and stuck in there. The floors were dirty and the master closet has mouse feces in it. The master shower was also not clean and the house that sleeps 12-15 had 3 rolls of toilet paper. This property has gorgeous views and so much potential itâs just DIRTY.

could have been heated better, but, then, I'm old and have thin blood! It was very accessible for my wheelchair-bound daughter except for getting her into the cabin. We enjoyed it, and everyone had a great time!
The property is in a gorgeous location with amazing views and access to the mountains. Given the amount of money we paid (including cleaning service) I was disappointed to find that the house had not been adequately cleaned and there were some broken features (ie banister, towel rack, appliances). We ran out of hot water quickly which was surprising given that the house was meant to hold up to 16 and we were only 11. The response time from the property manager was amazing and I appreciated her willingness to work with us to correct some issues.
I also did appreciate that they had many things onsite to make the mountain stay more comfortable (ie space heaters, humidifiers, sleds, etc).
