The most beautiful spot on Lake Como. From here you have an uninterrupted view of the lake and the mountains beyond, you can even see George Clooney's home (at least we think it is his home)! And you are surrounded by gardens that befit a palazzo. Magnificent at any time of the year!

The space
Set in a development of 22 apartments in lavish gardens, our apartment enjoys a stunning location with uninterrupted views of the lake above the picturesque village of Faggeto Lario. In the distance you can see the Intelvi mountains and the town of Laglio, of George Clooney fame.

This fabulous getaway is a real treat for a holidaying couple, whether by themselves or with up to 2 children.

The property comprises a living/dining area, a kitchen, one bedroom and an en-suite bathroom with a separate WC.

Immediately in front of the apartment is a private patio with stylish white wrought-iron furniture, which is for your exclusive use. From there you can enjoy wining and dining ‘alfresco’, overlooking the lake and the 300 year old church, the inspiration of many an artist.

You are surrounded by two hectares of magnificent communal gardens, which lead uphill to the funicular and the main entrance, and downhill to the lake side entrance. A sunny lawn provides a delightful spot where you can take a picnic or, if you prefer, you can relax with a good book next to the swimming pool; and take in the stunning lake views wherever you are.

The tasteful contemporary interior includes a fully-fitted kitchen and all the appliances needed for an enjoyable self-catering stay.

The dining area is furnished with a stylish white round table and designer chairs, perfect for entertaining up to 5 persons.

The master bedroom is furnished with elegant white minimalist furniture and a double bed. There is also a comfortable double sofa bed in the living room, ideal for 1 or 2 young children or another couple, as well as another sofa that can be made into a single bed. Maximum permitted capacity is 4 persons.

There is WiFi at your disposal, plus an expanding library of DVD's (200+ at the last count), and books (many of them hard-to-find and beautifully illustrated editions covering the history and culture of the region), as well as information and guide books covering the local area. So you will have plenty to keep you occupied on a rainy day, when the lake takes on a surreal new beauty.

You will have your own secure private parking space. The lake beach and jetty for the ferry service are less than 5 minutes by foot, as is the highly rated "Il Vapore" restaurant. There also a bus service running from Como to Bellagio, the stop is 50m from the entrance to the property, close to your local pizzeria and bar.

Guest access
Upon confirmation of your booking you will be sent a 4-digit code that will unlock the key box. From there you take the lift down 4 levels, and proceed to the funicular, which terminates at the poolside. Enjoy the view as you descend, it is magical!

From there to the apartment entrance, you descend by a staircase that runs around the pool, or you can take the pathway which is free of steps.

Your keys will open the middle of the three doors, first a louvre shutter then the main door.

Other things to note
Eating and Drinking

The property lends itself well to self-catering. As Faggeto is a small village, and the nearest shops (in Torno) have limited opening hours, we recommend that you stock up in the major supermarkets in and around Como (eg; Bennett, Iper) which are all open till 8.00pm or 9.00pm including on Sunday and Carrefour whose 4 outlets in Como are now open 24/7, a major revolution in Italian retailing. There is a comprehensive Italian recipe book at your disposal.

That said there is a superb restaurant on the lake front, a five-minute stroll down the pathway, called Il Vapore, not to be confused with the equally good restaurant of the same name in Torno. If you have the budget and fine seafood is your thing, then try Momi, on the lakeside in Blevio, and close by there is new kid on the fine dining block, Il Sereno. And a simple pizzeria (called the Pizzeria) 500m along the road towards Como.

Accommodation

We offer one double bed in the bedroom, additional members of your group may use the double sofa-bed in the living room, which is very comfortable.

Any party is sleeping in the living room needs to be advised that access to the bathroom / WC is via the main bedroom.
