2/10
We were told the lodge was built in the 1980’s. Everything about the place confirmed what we were told. Nothing appears to be updated. The rooms lack air conditioners, microwaves, refrigerators and small coffee makers, which are virtually standard in any place nowadays. They offered a communal microwave and mini refrigerator down the hall to share with other visitors (strangers) staying at the lodge. Additionally, the lodge restaurant/lounge recently closed; hence, requiring a 20/25 min. drive into Estes Park anytime you wanted food. Lastly, there were small miscellaneous things broken in our room, along with the only bathroom electrical outlet not working. Staff offered an extension cord to remedy the problem as they were not going to fix it until we left. Lastly, A sign posted in our room stated not to go over the deck railing; however, all the lower level rooms deck railings were removed. Removing the railings actually made sense to easily access the parking lot, except there were no stairs with the two foot deck to ground distance. By day 3 of our 4 day reservation, we decided to go stay in Estes Park, When I was checking out, an older, somewhat rude front desk attendant saw I was checking out early and blurted out, you can’t get a refund for the remaining day. I never asked for one. Having many years experience in the hospitality business, these are all clear signs of a financially struggling business.
