Its a gem

It is a really nice house that is very well kitted out. The host had thought of everything. It is in a beautiful place just out of town. Our Porch overlooked a private garden area. Its beautiful and quiet. Our dog loved the bison dog treats. There were lambs grazing in field next door. We loved it.

Everything you need

Stupendous views! Visiting in late May, the land was green and temperate. We heard many beautiful bird songs we’d never heard before. The interior of the bunkhouse is carefully curated to provide you the most comfortable, homey stay possible. Skylights let you see the stars from bed as you fall asleep. Host is amazing, has thought of things you need and provided them before you even know you need them.

Remarkable rental

We’ve been renting in Durango across hotels, and vacation rentals for 10 years. This was one of two favorite places we’ve stayed. Martha has put so much thought into this place. The accommodations are top notch, it’s in a wonderful part of the valley, and the hosts are just the nicest people. We will definitely be back!

Cozy cabin with a personal touch!

This cabin was perfect for us in so many ways: The location with easy access to Durango as well as lots of hiking north of town, the porch with a beautiful view of the mountains, and most of all the amazing hospitality of the hostess, Martha! First Class

Beautiful property, home, and owner! Pristine home. After a long road trip to Durango, I opened the refrigerator to find a wide variety of cold beverages. Since it was a warm day, Martha had the fans and AC on for us. The bed was very comfy. The surroundings are spectacular! Very peaceful. A few times a day you will hear the local steam and diesel trains on their journey to/from Silverton. Everything was first class! Martha's a gem. We really don't want to share this with anyone else so we can keep it our secret. :)

Fantastic Animas Valley Property

This is a wonderful property, with expansive views of the beautiful Animas River Valley, located approximately about 10 miles north of Durango and about 1/2 mile from the river (close enough to hear its calming flow). Martha is a great host, perhaps the most accommodating of any we've ever experienced at a vacation rental, providing special personal touches (snacks, drinks, even treats for the dog!) and high quality finishes (very comfortable bed, high thread count cotton sheets, luxuriously soft towels). There are great hiking opportunities nearby, and County Road 250 (on which the property is located) is one of the premier road biking loops around Durango. We hope to be back for a longer stay!

Great place for a get away

Great Anniversary Getaway!

The Rustic Rooster Inn is a cozy cabin in a gorgeous setting! It is located next to the owners home but it felt very secluded and quiet. Very well stocked with all the amenities as described. Martha surprised us with having a dozen roses, champagne, and glasses set on the desk when we walked in. We were also interested in bike riding so she also provided bikes for us. We enjoyed using the hot tub which was very clean and had fun playing pool. Our favorite thing was to lay in the chaise lounges, enjoy the view, and read books. We highly recommended staying at the Rustic Rooster Inn!

Fantastic Property

My wife and I were looking for a nice and quiet location for a relaxing weekend before out baby was born. The property is on a large land area with great views. It had a hot tub and a bath tub for relaxation. The game area was fantastic with a lot of game options to keep us busy. There was access to many hiking trails and close to the town of Durango. Overall we had a great experience. Martha is a wonderful woman and we definitely plan on coming back to the Rustic Rooster because we loved it so much!

Such a gem!

We were in the area visiting family and the Rustic Rooster Inn was the perfect jumping off point for so much of what we did. Proximity to Durango, San Juan National Forest, and the ease of driving to get to trail heads was great. The cottage was perfect, and all the snacks, wine as part of the welcome basket, as well as the game room were a perfect cherry on top. Martha was extremely responsive and helpful, particularly when we needed to bring in a bed for my sister to sleep on last minute! Would definitely stay here again!

AMAZING!!!

Words cannot describe how AMAZING our stay was at the Rustic Rooster! HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone!! Our host, Martha, was absolutely wonderful! My boyfriend and I brought our two dogs from DFW, Texas. After a long drive, we were surprised to find several snacks, wine, dog treats and dog toys upon our arrival! Those are just a few examples of how accommodating this host is! The place is absolutely gorgeous and view of the mountains looks like a painting! 12 deer hang around the property and came right up to us! We will definitely be back. Thank you again Martha!!!

The homeowner is absolutely delightful. She respects her guests privacy. The home is perfect for one couple in an especially romantic setting. It’s professionally decorated and furnished and fully equipped for comfort. A surprise bonus....the homeowner supplied all sorts of goodies to enjoy during our stay. Yum! Ten minutes or so from Durango, the location is incredibly peaceful. We couldn’t wait to be back “home” on the deck at the end of the day to mesmerize over the view of the red cliffs, the sunset and the two horses. Charming & peaceful, both Mildred and her cottage. I cannot begin to tell everyone what a delight Mildred is. She has the charm, caring and professional attitude renters always hope to have. We have rented many properties, this one is at the top of our list. The cottage is decorated to perfection and extremely clean. The beds were comfortable and there was movies to watch and books as well. The snacks Mildred left for us as well as the toy for our fur baby were great. Martha’s place was the most charming VRBO we have had the pleasure of staying in! Fantastic stay

Our stay at the Rustic Rooster cabin in Durango was fantastic. The property has wonderful views, is fully stocked with everything you would expect and the owner is one of the most thoughtful host I have found. She remembered it was our anniversary and had wine and chocolates waiting for us inside on arrival. The porch was great for morning coffee and watching for the local wildlife which showed up often during our stay. The cabin is close enough to town that you can run in for dinner or shopping and yet far enough out of town you can see lots of wildlife in the morning and evenings. The property is just as depicted in the photos and it was spotless upon our arrival. The pool table and hot tub were fun to have as well. I highly recommend this property if your looking to visit the Durango area, it is fantastic.

This amazing little mountain cottage has amazing host to go with it. Martha thought of every little detail from flowers, wine, and snacks for us to treats and toys for our two mini schnauzers. The cottage has everything that you need or want. I could have stayed on the charming deck overlooking the valley and mountains for the entire visit. We stayed for five days and celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary! It was the perfect place.

The whole thing!

We were staying for three nights to decompress from our Ohio-to-Moab, Four-Corners marathon drive. Martha and Terry provided the perfect location and setting for us to unwind and still visit the Mesa Verde National Park plus a jaw-dropping drive up the canyon to Silverton for lunch. We've been renting mountain homes for twelve years, and this one is the gold medal winner. Martha's expertise in interior decoration is top-notch. The ingress and egress is all paved blacktop, and the stars at night are a wonder to behold above seven-thousand feet. Couples should not miss this place.
