The Eternal Peace Lamp was lit on 1 November 1986 by Prince Gyanendra to commemorate the International Year of Peace. The flame was brought from the UN in NY, NY, USA. It sits at the beginning of the park-like area known as the Lumbini Development Zone next to the Maya Devi Temple. The zone contains numerous Buddhist temples and monasteries built by various countries.

Loved this place. The suite rooms on the top floor are outstanding. Staff are welcoming and extremely friendly. Good spoken English. Food from the restaurant (and room service) is excellent. This is the nicest hotel in the city. Excellent and professional staff and management. All facilities are first rate -- excellent swimming pool and dining room. Extremely comfortable room with a huge and nicely appointed bathroom. First rate.
