We had a wonderful stay. The house had plenty of room for all 8 of us. There was a great hiking trail in walking distance. It is very close to Morrison, Golden and Red Rocks. The large yard, barbeque area and creek are so nice. Great experience for us.
We stayed 5 nights at the Mt Vernon house and absolutely enjoyed it. The house and yard have so much character. It was so nice to be isolated yet close to the things that we wanted to do. Walking distance to a trailhead where we saw deer and elk every day, and the birds were amazing. Close to Golden and Red Rocks. Highly recommend!
Lovely historic home, very comfortable stay for many adults. Perfect location for many day trips to Downtown Denver, beautiful scenic drives, Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks Amphitheatr, Rocky MTN NP, Dinosaur Ridge, Gold mine tours, the list goes on and on! Amphitheatr,DinosauRidge
The house is amazing. The location is 15 min from a Walmart in multiple directions. 10 min drive to red rocks. WiFi is great! Ran multiple tvâs and phones no problem. Signal worked great for T-Mobile and Att. Very quiet and secluded location. Stayed for a week and loved the kitchen area for family cooking. Great stay would recommend.
Our family liked the homey atmosphere, the personal touches of the house, being out near Red Rock and the hiking nearby. We even saw deer one early evening eating grass near the house. This home and the surroundings gave us many great memories which we will cherish. Thank you Dennis!
We had a fantastic weekend at this property. Initially I booked it thinking I would stay with my 17 and 20 year old daughters and their boyfriends and use the house as a base to go to RMNP and Golden; but two days before our reservation started my 17 year old was diagnosed with leukemia. So it ended up being a fundamentally different trip and group of people (my other daughter and her boyfriend still came but we were joined by friends). It was a wonderful retreat in a difficult time, and the owner was great when I asked to extend the stay. Definitely, definitely recommend.
We loved the history of this home and authentic Colorado experience. Plenty of space for everyone. The patio was perfect for us to hang out and enjoy the Colorado evenings. Super close to everything! Thank you for sharing this piece of history with us!
We are a group of four couples of longtime friends who came to see a concert at Red Rocks. We were only there for 2 nights, but had a great time. The house was easy to get to from the airport and was close to Morrison and Golden. The house is VERY interesting with a lot of history. Due to the time of year, and age of the house,(Halloween) we had a bit of fun with each other over the prospect of the house being haunted, however we never experienced anything to support that. The house was well stocked with what we needed for this quick trip. Dennis was great and we had a wonderful time.
The owner was so hospitable. Super clean. The very best place hands down if you are going to Red Rocks. Everything is so close and convenient. The house has so much character and history and the property is peaceful. Plus Eldridge the
As advertised. Very neat old, historic home. Saw a big buck out the bedroom window and a doe and her fawns in the front yard. Clean and everything works. Close to Red Rocks, hiking, downtown Golden and lots of things to do.
This historic home was a fun twist on our friends/family trip. The landscape was beautiful and we enjoyed a couple evenings out on thr patio. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. And we enjoyed hiking to Red Rocks! Highly recommend!
Our good friend's daughter was getting married in Colorado Springs, so a group of our high school friends went on a road trip. Before the wedding, we planned a concert at Red Rocks and found this historical house that could fit us all. We had a blast! The house is situated in a State Park and the trailhead to the Red Rocks hike was very close. This was a great hike, but not a recommended walk to the concert.
The property is not for folks who like modern but is eclectic and intriguing for those who love historic homes. Be aware there are steep steps to the upstairs and some strange steps between rooms along with some angels in the ceilings of some of the bedrooms that could be challenging for people with limited mobility. The other challenge in this house is the bathroom situation. One is off the master, the other full bath is downstairs off the kitchen and the half bath is upstairs in the hall but has a curtain instead of a door. So this could be problematic for some groups. This did not hinder our stay at all but I thought it was good information to be aware of.
Overall, we loved the space to eat, drink, laugh, dance, and catch up with old friends. The proximity to Red Rocks was amazing (about 2 miles down the road) but not walkable. The front porch and yard were great outside spaces to hang out as well. The quirks of the old house were welcomed and appreciated and we loved our time there.
This is such a wonderful place to stay! Whether youâre doing a weekend get away, or hosting an event, youâre sure to have a wonderful relaxing time! We had a intimate wedding ceremony here and it couldnât have been more perfect. We had asked if they were able to mow the grass before the ceremony, and Dennis went out of his way to make sure that was done in time for us to have the ceremony. Check in, and check out were super easy. The house had all the essentials needed for a nice relaxing stay. It is a very antique and neat place to stay. Definitely give it a try if youâre looking in the area.
Thank you!!
This historic home is exactly as described, down to the large list of amenities, sloping floors and enjoyable fire pit, with a nice breeze flowing thru the property. Fun filled with antiques and modern upgrades. Beds and living room are quite comfortable. Itâs a nice private location with easy access to Denver, Golden, Red Rocks (our 1st) and many hiking trails. We also ventured out to Nederlands, Boulder and Mount Blue Sky. Options to chill after daily hiking adventures included the private deck, porch or by the fire pit. Denny was at the ready, if needed, but the set-up makes it easy to be self-sufficient. Itâs so nice to not have to travel with basic items or have to immediately run to the store for paper goods. Itâs the little things that make you feel welcomed, including a cozy blanket. Good food, drinks and peeps at nearby Vice Kitchen (and a brewery in same plaza we did not try) Truly enjoyed our stay!
We took a rare family vacation and carefully chose this house. It was perfect!! Too many wonderful memories to list them all. We survived a snowstorm and had a blast! Loved finishing the puzzle of Colorado that was left out in the study.
Excellent location.
We loved the house and how close it is to Red Rocks! We enjoyed our coffee out on the front porch every morning and enjoyed the patio area in the evenings! Very peaceful and restful place!
