'I had a wonderful stay at Powter Howe, a real treat. The room and bathroom were immaculately cleaned and well kept and the host is a gem who cooks the best breakfast which includes lovely free range eggs from her own hens. Waking up in the morning to the view over a beautiful garden beyond the lake to Skiddaw was an extra treat as each morning there was a new ever changing Lake District vista. I'll definitely be back! '

'This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Amthweight Hall, the accommodation was excellent, as was the staff, they couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast was 10 out of 10, and again, very helpful, as my wife wanted her coffee a paticular temperature, and strength, they bent over backwards to make her perfect cup of coffee !! The grounds and the building, are kept immaculate. The Spa facilities, again 10 out of 10, gym, sauna, steam room, plunge pool, swimming pool and outside hot pool, plenty...

'Rooms were comfortable. Good beds and duvets. Wonderful view! Staff were very approachable and pleasant. The breakfasts were good apart from the last day when no hot breakfasts available. We enjoyed a very nice evening meal but were disappointed there was no hot drinks available afterwards. Not easy to park for larger vehicles.'

'The 3 course meal was al a carte status, excellent made by chef/ owner. Lovely bedrooms and v clean and owners very welcoming. Lovely views and walks nearby. For children the wildlife park is worth a visit nearby. '

'The staff were friendly, the food was excellent and the hotel is well maintained apart from the windows, they looked a bit knackered, although given the grade listing of the hotel, there’s very little that can be done'

'Our room, on the first floor, was excellent with lovely views. The food was of a high quality and the service was very good except on one of our three evenings when we were forgotten about and it took at least three complaints to get our meal started. On this occasion we were in the restaurant for about two hours and it took 45 minutes before we got our starter. This was a shame because otherwise everything was perfect.'

'Room was very clean the view from the room was looking over the river, having a balcony was lovely if it was summer time it would have been lovely sitting outside. Room 204 highly recommend. Evening meal of chicken supreme was excellent. '

'Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very large, modern and clean. Nice breakfast with a good selection of hot and cold buffet products. Very pet friendly. The location is right next to the lake with beautiful views. It is easy to get into Keswick either by boat, bus or walking alongside the lake. Highly recommend this hotel.'
