The location was a real positive—just outside Canterbury’s historic center and within an easy walk of all the main attractions, shops, and restaurants. The flat was adequate for our stay, and communication from the host was good. However, there were a few areas that could be improved. There was quite a bit of rubbish outside the flat during our visit, and when we opened the windows for fresh air, the flat quickly filled with flies. The two-person sofa was uncomfortable and felt inexpensive, with a cover that appeared to need washing. The bed in the main living area also had older bedding that could benefit from an update. We also experienced some confusion with parking. We parked in the designated space but followed the pattern of nearby cars and parked parallel to the fence. We woke up to a note from a neighbor saying we were in his space. We immediately corrected the issue and parked perpendicular to the fence, but the neighbor later came outside and shouted at us, which was unpleasant. Clearer parking instructions would help avoid this situation for future guests.Overall, the flat was functional and met our basic needs, but it was not as comfortable as we had hoped. Updating the sofa and bedding, improving the area outside the flat, and providing clearer parking guidance would make a noticeable difference. One additional note: there was a separate safety deposit charge of about 20 in addition to the standard VRBO fees.
