This quaint cottage cleverly combines traditional styles with contemporary touches. The modern kitchen provides the perfect place to rustle up a tasty meal after a long day at the beach, before collapsing into one of the comfy sofas in the lounge, which boasts fabulous feature stonework and a cosy woodburner. Outside, you'll find a patio area with garden furniture, so you can enjoy al fresco dining on warm summer evenings.


With its maze of tiny lanes and vibrant cottages, Appledore is everything you imagine of a small Devon village. There are some great culinary delights to be found, too. During your stay, why not sample some of the local produce from the popular grocery store, or grab an ice cream from the van on the quay; the highly-regarded brand, which is made in Appledore, is only sold in North Devon and people travel from far and wide to taste it! In high season, you can catch a boat across the estuary to the sheltered stretch of sandy beach at Instow. Much of the beach is dog-friendly, and children will love rummaging around in the rock pools. Skern Lodge (2 miles away) also makes a great action-packed excursion. Offering both kids' activity days and family sessions, from surfing to rock climbing, it's a great way to involve the whole family and try something new.
