This flat is in an ideal location to explore the centre of Arcachon on foot, as we hoped. Florence, the property agent acting for the host, provided first-class communication and support, and was only a 5 minute walk away. The parking turned out to be a bit more complicated than we expected, partly because we had originally jumped to the conclusion it was at the back, outside, when in fact it was underground, requiring you to drive the car into a lift and go down a floor from street level. This would not have been a problem but AVIS had kindly upgraded us to a vehicle that turned out to be a couple of millimetres short of the maximum length - and we learnt a hard lesson about the need to avoid blocking the sensors for the lift doors...sorry, Florence! It was however very secure! The flat did not have air conditioning - a challenge in the heatwave - and a fan was on order but would onl;y arrive after we left...Mercifully, the property faces North and my intelligent wife managed to find a reasonable solution by keeping blinds closed during the day, then partially open overnight as the temperature dropped slightly - although that exposed us to the risk of noise early morning. Towards the end of our stay more cars and people neighbours were arriving in adjacent apartment blocks, preparing for Bastille Day. The flat itself had everything we needed except WIFI, which, combined with the unexpected need for air con, taught us a lesson for next time - but overall we had a great stay!
