8/10 – Goed

Bedrooms as big as ballrooms! This split-level house is big enough to get lost in. Floors and bathrooms were well cleaned and beds were comfortable although the oven had not been checked for rotting food left by previous tenants, and not wiped out. The garbage bin was overflowing, but owner explained there is only fortnightly pick up.The main bedroom with ensuite and walk in robe is pure luxury but unfortunately located on the middle level, which means occupants of the two bedrooms on the upper level have to negotiate two sets of steps to use the main bathroom (much less luxurious on the ground level). The main sitting room opens onto a small, pretty garden and captures all the northerly sun, perfect to enjoy winter afternoons. Equipment is satisfactory except for some very badly distressed pots and pans, leaving really only one medium sized decent saucepan to use, strange for a house that accommodates so many. Similarly the dining table only accommodates 6 when 8 or 10 would be much more appropriate. There is quite a lot of road noise, noticeable all through the night. Air conditioners in each room are reasonably effective. Neither the gas log fireplace nor the real fireplace are available for use.The driveway to enter is on the corner of three reasonably busy roads, so care needs to be taken when reversing out. The location opposite the botanic gardens is a bonus and we enjoyed several walks around the gardens. It would suit a large group.
