A little gem located in stone town.
The Zanzibar coffee House is the place to go if you want to have a true taste of hospitality. I can only recommend this accommodation. Noreen and her team are wonderful ladies. I travel a lot and never in all my travels have experienced such amazing service. Once again Thank you to the team for your fantastic work.

Wonderful stay
The hotel is very special in many ways: it is an old building wonderfully renovated, with delicious coffee and juices and very kind and dedicated staff. The rooftop in particular is very enjoyable. I will definitely come back if I can.

The bathroom and the bedroom is far apart, so it was inconvenient every time I used it, Also the water in the shower room and sink was running low, making it very inconvenient to use too

Good Day,We noticed your review, my feedback is that you made the room choice of cheaper rate and clearly states the bathroom not in room. The way the building is built makes it impossible to have in the room but it was your own private bathroom. Kind Regards

Good Evening, you have mailed for us to put the aircon on at 19H00 and you arrived after 22H00 the evening. We felt this is waste of electricity as it takes 5 minutes to cool the room down once aircon is switch on. We will take action with the night porter

何より特筆すべきは、従業員の方々全員、非常に感じがよく、とってもフレンドリーでした！ サービスも申し分なかったです。 建物の造りは古いものの、各お部屋の名前がコーヒーにちなんだ名前であったり、天蓋ベッドやさりげなく飾られている小物にセンスが感じられました。 朝食会場となっているルーフットップのカフェはストーンタウンの町が一望でき、たいへん素晴らしかったです！ 唯一の難点は、街の中に立地していることもあり、石畳の道路をスーツケースで移動するのは大変です。 ドライバーさんにお願いして運んでもらうようお願いすれば問題は解決できます。 All staff members were so friendly and great!!! I really enjoyed my stay there!! The room was also nice and reasonable. Breakfast on roof top was amazing, you can enjoy beautiful scenery of Stonetown there. If you would like to go out for shopping, this hotel is suitable because it is located almost the center of Stonetown and you can access most of all attractive restaurants, shops and beach by walk. Since the hotel is located at the fron of a small street, it is difficult to come in by car so you have to bring your luggage by yourself or ask a driver to carry. I strongly recommend you to stay this hotel anyway!!

Outstanding performance by the staff!
Outstanding performance by the staff! Had a great one night stay in this charmed small guest house. And you what a wonderful place to be a guest. The staff greeted me by my name and dit every thing in a high class hotel standard. The rooms, roof terrace, and other areas is clean and very cozy. I did not eat the free breakfast, but I enjoyed a delicious fresh coffee with a view. I highly recommend this place if you need accommodation within this price range. 😎🇹🇿❤️

Would reccomend
It’s a great stay here. Plenty of character , rooms are nice! The coffee itself is quite strong but the breakfast is amazing and staff are lovely. Good location for walking distance within the rest of stone town too.

Arrived late, thankfully a driver of a friend called in to advise my flight had been canx so would not be arriving until 11pm. Trouble getting through to their phone or by email and facebook. Staff were welcoming though and showed me to my room. I did choose the cheaper room so bathroom was seperate. Not really an issue for me, but if it is for you make sure you book with ensuite. The hotel is old, but lovely, very traditional, basic but has an amazing rooftop terrace where you have breakfast and can also go up there for drinks or meals. They have a cafe with wondering baked goods, very popular and well known with other people. Location within the centre, alley ways no cars. It is like a labyrinth, my suggestion is to get a guide. A wonderful stay, staff lovely and people around very friendly.

Unique stay and great coffee!
Zanzibar coffee house provides a unique stay in gorgeous rooms. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. They provided recommendations of where to eat in Stone Town. They also make the best coffee! Breakfast on the rooftop was a highlight for us. Highly recommend.

The ladies working at the coffee house were so welcoming and friendly the moment I stepped foot on the property. The entire property, from rooms to the rooftop, were aesthetically pleasing. I only had their coffees and breakfast there and it was very delicious. The rooftop is also open to the public during certain hours of the day, so it can get crowded at times. The room I booked did not have an ensuite bathroom, but was a few meters away from the room and private, this could be the case for other rooms as well. Finally, taxis cannot drive up directly in front of the hotel so you must be dropped off somewhere near and it'll be a 2-3 minute walk to the hotel entrance. Aside from the very minor problems, I enjoyed my stay there and would highly recommend staying at Zanzibar Coffee house

If you are looking to stay in the heart of Stonetown look no further. The coffee and breakfast is easily the best on the island and the staff are UNBELIEVABLE! My wife is 5 months pregnant and fell sick 2 days into our trip, without asking the staff made her a local tea that is supposed to help with nausea and other ailments. Herensha, one of the managers helped us book a spice tour and checked in with us everyday to ensure our stay was perfect. I cannot express enough how the staff turns this already great hotel into a must stay in zanzibar!

I picked Zanzibar Coffee House because I like coffee, and it had a nice online presence. Not much to go by, eh? But I could not have made a better choice. From the moment I arrived the staff was friendly, helpful and a real joy to interact with. When I first arrived I was much too early to check in, but no problem, they stowed my luggage, provided me with some fresh mango juice at their rooftop cafe area - lovely. And when I asked for directions to a place to change money, the manager correctly sized me up as someone who easily gets lost, and had a staff member escort me to the best place to change money. My room was lovely, service was excellent, the breakfasts were yummy. I could not have been happier with my stay there.

Wonderful place to stay
This is a fantastic hotel run by amazing people. The rooms have been restored and are just so cool. This is the REAL Zanzibar. The rooftop cafe is great. The views are wonderful, cool with a breeze, and the food amazing. We had a room where our private bath was down the hall a few feet. Even with getting up 3 times a night to go it was not a bother. This hotel will arrange your transportation to and from the airport. There is no parking anywhere nearby most of the hotels in Stonetown including this one. This hotel is very walkable.

Zanzibar Coffee House was a wonderful place to stay for three nights to explore Stone Town and its surroundings. Noreen and her staff were wonderful and very welcoming. I have stayed in many hotels for both work and leisure travel, and this hotel has to rate as one of the best I have ever stayed in. I highly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Zanzibar.

I would highly recommend a stay here. Great location for discovering Stonetown. Noreen is a gem and everyone working at the Coffee House is top notch. Rooms are clean and perfect for whatever you need. The roof top allows amazing views and a huge breakfast is included.

Charming and unique
Hospitality is lovely and unique the breakfast upstairs just gorgeous, but to get back to it at night even with gps can be extremly challenging on a labyrinth of tiny narrow streets ( no cars possibilities). Coffee is delicious!

Such a wonderful hotel. Friendly, clean, and accommodating and welcoming! Very much recommend doing the tours they organize (Amo Tours) as the tour guides are wonderful (we love Salma and Osman!) Would also recommend the pancakes and saving the banana in the fruit platter to add to the dish ;-) many thanks to Noreen and the rest of the great staff. Stone Town is the nicest place... we have fallen in love with this island and it’s people.

An interesting building within Stonetown. A fascinating view from the roof top floor with excellent coffee and food. This place is NOT for the disabled or those who cannot handle major stairways. Some of the upper rooms are beautiful however those on the lower floor should not even be sold for stay due to the strange and difficult layout that can be hazardous especially at night. This rooms have horrid views and unforgiving noises coming from adjacent builds just feet away. The room we stayed in had a nasty concrete stairs and sloped walkway leading to the toilet and shower about 30 feet away. The stairs to the bathroom are steep and hazardous with the bottom step looking like part of the floor. My girlfriend whom is young and athletic took a fall down these stairs at 3am which resulted in injury. I had contacted the manager Noreen earlier in the day asking for another room primarily because of the stairs and bathroom location and was told that no others were available- even though Expedia showed several including suites available. I even offered to pay more than the $126 I had paid. During the night you could hear one if not two people vomiting from the building adjacent to the bathroom and walkway. During most of the day the generator next to the room ran continuously throughout the day. I was furious after my girlfriends fall and horrid stay and immediately left the hotel in the early AM skipping the free coffee and breakfast.

We take pride in doing our best for all our guests, and are truly sorry that your second stay with us didn’t live up to the first one, due to issues largely beyond our control. Please let me begin by clarifying something about your booking with us: When you first arrived, it was already evening, and we had several rooms available that night; so we upgraded you without charge, and you booked the same room again for your return from the beach hotel. As you came back one day early, it was still occupied. I offered you the best alternative we had available that day, inviting you to take a look at the other option as well (and no matter what Expedia showed, we really didn’t have a suite), but it was a step down from your previous room; that is why as a courtesy we gave it to the both of you for the single occupancy rate. It was never a question of payment but only one of availability. The Zanzibar Coffee House is located in the heart of Stone Town, so some noise from the street or adjacent buildings cannot be avoided; but we sincerely regret that you had to suffer through someone in a neighbouring house being sick, and several hours of generator noise due to a power outage that afternoon. It is also very unfortunate that your girlfriend fell down the stairs, and I am relieved she hadn’t sustained any major injuries. The Zanzibar Coffee House is an original Stone Town building with many stairs, nooks and crannies - which is part of its charm, but may also be hazardous. Thankfully our guests usually negotiate the house without incident, but of course even one is one too many. Therefore, please accept our sincere apologies for the troubles and inconveniences you met with on your second stay with us! Thank you for also mentioning that you found some of our rooms beautiful, as well as our excellent coffee, food and our rooftop with the fascinating views! Best wishes

Very good place to stay in the centre of Stone Town. Breakfast, the coffee and the terrace were the highlight along with great rooms. We did stay in a room with a private separate bathroom in the hallway which was fine for a night but next time I would pay for an ensuite room. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, popular coffee house and hotel right in the heart of everything you want in stonetown. Rooms big and airy with gorgeous heavy wooden carved furniture and amazing air conditioning and wonderful friendly staff

3 nights in Stone Town
Absolutely amazing time! Came with a friend for 3 nights and cannot fault our stay. It can be a little confusing to navigate the streets of Stone Town to get back to the hotel but everyone knows the hotel and will help you find your way! (A kind man even got off his bike to walk us back to the hotel). Amazing breakfast, so clean, so welcoming, excellent - I also recommend taking a drink up to the roof for sunset- stunning
