'The house was in a good location. Only street parking is available, but it was convenient and there was always space. The house is definitely “antique”, but everything worked; water flowed, toilet flushed, lights came on, etc. Wood floors squeeked throughout the house. 'The hotel was clean, had very large rooms, and a nice, hot shower with good water pressure. This was especially important after a long, hard day in a moving van traveling across country. Even more important this property has good lighting and is set off far enough from the highway that we felt confident our van was going to be broken into. Physical security of our property was a big concern. We had a really sound sleep during our stay because the hotel looked and felt safe.'

'Truly enjoyed our stay here. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Staying on the top floor added to the quiet and a comfortable night’s sleep. Will definitely return on our next trip back from the Colorado mountains to St. Louis.'

'Not really sure how this place had an 8.6 rating. Our room smelled like urine and old lady perfume. The pull out sofa had a mattress cover that was visibly dirty. My daughter picked up her backpack off the floor and a cockroach fell off it. We got down to the continental breakfast at 7am, there was 3 muffins, a few pieces of bacon, and some breakfast potatoes that my daughter threw up shortly after. 'Stairs and hallway are filthy. The room door was very worn. You can see the hall light when the door is closed and locked. Does not fully close. You have to force it. Must check the door when entering and exiting to make sure it shuts. Had to have keys recoded 4 times. Room was clean but very outdated. Staff was friendly. Air conditioner was new. 'Evening staff was wonderful and impressively bilingual. Breakfast was good. Room on the older side with a loud a/c but nicely cool. Other guests were quite loud.'

'Not a new property and it shows its wear. Very load street traffic until late at night. Staff was very helpful, but seemed to treat us with a little less respect because we used "a third party" to make the reservation. Breakfast was OK. Overall, it'll do in a pinch, but there are lots of options in Hays and we will try those before giving this propery another chance.'
