⭐ 1-Star Review – Extremely Unprofessional Experience at the Vanderbilt Hotel
I booked my stay under “Pay at Hotel” terms, yet the Vanderbilt Hotel attempted to charge my card three days before my arrival without my consent, authorization, or notification. No charge ever went through, and I received zero communication from my bank—meaning the hotel’s claim that my card “declined” is simply untrue.
When I arrived on Thanksgiving Day, my confirmed reservation was still active, yet I was denied service in person. I was never given a chance to present a valid card, never asked which card I wanted to use, and never asked to sign a payment authorization. Instead, the front desk insisted that payment was “expected three days prior,” a policy not listed anywhere in their Expedia listing or hotel agreement.
The situation was made worse by repeated misinformation from the front desk (specifically Sherri), who continued to provide explanations that contradicted the actual booking terms and factual bank activity. This resulted in a completely avoidable denial of my reservation.
I have requested a full investigation from both the hotel and Expedia, including documentation of any attempted charges, timestamps, cancellation codes, and internal communications. If the issue is not resolved appropriately, I will pursue further action with consumer-protection agencies.
