Arrived to the property and there are several dogs roaming around-all seemed friendly enough. The dogs bark all through the night along with neighbors dogs. The noise made it hard to sleep and sounded like a discordant animal symphony. Our 1st morning we woke to the noise of the weed eater which lasted through our breakfast. The noise of the weed eater was very loud right outside the living room area as the yurt walls are only cloth- lasted well over an hour. Pest control arrived on our 2nd day and sprayed the property with toxic bugs spray which triggered my allergies. After the spraying that night there were wasps in the yurt that I was stung by twice. My hand and arm become swollen. The yurt is missing screens which allowed the wasps in.. Between having my allergies triggered, poor sleep due to the noise, and my arm swelling this put a huge damper on my vacation experience. We liked the several different types of geckos climbing around everywhere and the full kitchen. No hot water in the kitchen to wash dishes. Water in the shower only got warm at best. Overall the cost wasnât worth the stay in the yurt based on our experience.
Read the description thoroughly before booking. It is VERY rustic. Although the location is ideal for North Shore exploration and the neighbors are super sweet and helpful, the yurt can use some much needed TLC. For example, of the 14 windows upstairs where it is hottest, only 3 windows have screens. The hot water heater had to be reset almost daily with no hot water reaching the kitchen where the sprayer was stuck on till we managed to fix it. The painted surfaces and floors are dirty and scuffed, there is no dining table or enough seating. Some of the cookware is too gross to use, there are no serving bowls, and the knives were so dull, we had to buy our own. There is no wifi, no shades on the lamps, not enough bedding, and the sheets on the pull outs are smaller than the mattresses. Only one roll of toilet paper is provided. We made the best of it and had a great laugh when one of the men screamed like a little girl when he encountered a tarantula sized spider in the shower, but the price being charged is double what this place is worth. I would definitely not book it again.
We really enjoyed our time at this yurt. It was so peaceful. It was like staying in a very spacious treehouse and we just loved it. I really enjoyed cooking in the circular kitchen, which was well-equipped with everything we needed, nothing we didn't need. Great location close to the beach and north shore activities. The fresh mangos and avocados we got to enjoy daily from the host's organic orchards were an added bonus! We will be back!
