Wife and I were looking for a place away from the hustle that comes with NOVA normally, and especially the weekend of the inauguration. I must say we found the absolute best spot. Nelson county has always been a favorite spot for us to go to, but most of the time we have made day trips. I absolutely love being able to post up for a weekend in a quiet setting and being able to relax. Even the pup enjoys the quiet and are keen to relax next to the stoves. Most places just leave it up to you to make it up to the property, but the drive way was cleared before our arrival. Most places either require you to bring your own wood, or purchase wood from them, the cabin already had bundles next to the stoves and instructions on where to find more. My wife and I were able to enjoy the entire day of frozen rain and sleet indoors where we just sat around the stove and kept warm. Of course the pantry was fully stocked of coffee to enjoy next to that lite stove. Of course after the warmth and ambiance of the stove, you'll get plenty of rest in the comfortable beds. There is a TV with connections and apps for all your keeping contact with the outside world, so I stayed away from that room. I was there to not hear about what was going on, and that was what I meant to do. I absolutely plan to come back to this cabin, and I'm hoping to bring friends along with me during one or more of those trips.Kalvin
The cabin was so clean and comfortable and we were immediately at ease. We arrived at dark in a really thick fog, but were so pleasantly surprised at the incredible view when we woke up the next morning. The woodsy mountain surroundings were exactly what we needed to take a real âbreakâ from work and life. The two wood burning stoves added so much cozy comfort and the coffeemaker(s) appease both Keurig and Nespresso lovers. The milk frother was a lovely indulgence! The 3 bedroom home was more than perfect for our little family of three but it would have comfortably accommodated 6 and even 8 with the pull out couch. Everything we needed was available in the kitchen (pots, pans, cling wrap, parchment paper, storage containers, wine glasses⊠even ingredients we normally bring despite needing such a small amount of, such as flour, sugar, herbs/spices, but all were available if we had needed them.) The owners have put so much into added personal touches right down to the art and photography on the walls. We felt right at home and would love to return someday. Michael and Antoinette were incredibly hospitable and clearly love hosting others in their beautiful home. 11 out of 10 stars, donât hesitate!
We loved staying at this property. Easily accommodated our family and was such a pretty setting. Host was excellent in answering questions and providing information. Would definitely stay here in the future.
Our stay at the cabin was so relaxing and quiet. We enjoyed the porch swing and hammock. The cabin was clean, with plenty of towels, and linens. My husband and son enjoyed fishing at the pond and caught a few bass. We will stay again in the future!
Four of us wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of suburbia and spend some quality time together as mother-daughter duos. The cabin is remote enough to offer the quiet and serenity we needed but close enough to wineries and quaint shopping. The cabin is beautiful and offered almost everything we needed. We had a wonderful time and would return.
Unlike the movie, there was no strangeness here, just a cozy little cabin (not that little at all) in the mountains. Our stay was three 45+ gamer geeks just wanting some respite from our wives and kids. This place was perfect. The Internet speed let us all play online games without issues. The amenities were great, there were enough dishes so we didn't have to worry about sharing plates, and they had this really cool weather station device so we could see what was going on outside. All in all, I highly recommend this place. Not only is the place wonderful but the owners were equally wonderful to work with. 10/10 would recommend!
Cabin was as advertised. Well supplied, clean, and everything was in good working order. Three comfortable beds in three spacious bedrooms. We would definitely stay again when we want to stay near our daughter at Liberty University.
We came to visit our LU student and whisked her away from reality up to this cabin in the woods, and it didnât disappoint! After almost changing locations due to having to explain we werenât going to party when mentioning our adult son might come along to work remotely and asked if our daughterâs roommate could possibly visit (we are the parents of six adult kids), we decided to go and hope for the best. It was great!
The host responded to any questions immediately. We had all we needed and especially loved that the entire place (inside and out) was decorated for fall. What a nice touch! Our art major daughter loved all the art on the walls. We could only come because the hosts allowed us to bring our fur babies, which we were grateful for. The house was immaculate (a must for us) and had lots of outlets for charging things, which isnât always an availability in cabins. We hiked down and up the driveway several times a day to enjoy the fall leaves and stay in shape (itâs about half a mile down and up the steep climb). The pond along the driveway was adorable. We drove to the Blue Ridge Parkway at sunset, went shopping in Charlottesville, enjoyed takeout at nearby restaurants, went apple picking, and spent hours playing cards at the lovely card table. What a perfect way for Floridians to soak in a taste of real fall!
The only negative was the smelly garbage having to be taken off site out of the way home, but not sure of a solution for that. We will definitely return.
This property is beautiful! Very secluded and peaceful. It was very well equipped and had a very warm and comfortable feeling. There were wineries and breweries in the area that we visited and enjoyed.
This was a getaway with my brother and sister-in-law from South Carolina (weâre from PA). If was a perfect mid way point and we all were very happy with the cabin. We wanted a place where we could sit on decks/porches and enjoy the outdoors and this place was perfect. My husband especially enjoyed his nap in the hammock! The driveway was a little scary on the first trip up but we quickly got used to it. We highly recommend this property.
This cabin is located between Charlottesville and WinterGreen resort. It takes about 45-50 minutes to get to each, so if you are planning to ski, you should plan to arrive early at the resort and stay for the day. The cabin is adorable and has great views of the mountains. If you like to cook you will find the kitchen well stocked with good quality pans. The linens and beds were the best we have ever had at a VRBO and they provided extra blankets that were warm and cozy. It was very clean. The only negative would be the trash. We took one load to the address on the house manual but the drive is out of the way. We left one bag of trash inside the cabin when we checked out. We would absolutely stay here again. I'm sure it is beautiful in the fall.
