Stunning Renovated Country Barn

"Rogula Barn" is a spacious recently renovated old-style barn with lofted bedrooms and a stunning great room that can comfortably sleep 6 and up to 8.  The property is nestled into 55 acres of lush, working farmland. It is located just a few miles from some of South East Ireland's treasured beaches and seaside villages, including "Booley" and "Dollar" Bays, Duncannon, Ballyhack and Arthurstown.  It is surrounded by history being located just a few miles from landmarks such as the famed Hook Lighthouse (Europe's oldest working lighthouse), as well as the 11th and 12th Century abbeys, Tintern and Dunbrody.  For dining and entertainment, the "Hollow Bar & Restaurant" is only a mile down the road and serves some of the finest fresh fish in the country,  whereas the critically acclaimed "Dunbrody House Hotel & Restaurant", owned by the famous chef Kevin Dundon, is only a couple of miles away.  Nearby villages of Ramsgrange, Duncannon and Ballyhack provide grocery stores and delightful local pubs! The towns of Wexford and New Ross are both short drives away and for American visitors, New Ross is home to the famed "Dunbrody Famine Ship" on which JFK's great grandfather Patrick Kennedy left for American in 1849).

Idyllic stay in the country

I can't say enough how idyllic of a stay we had. From a charming dirt road lined with pastures of cows grazing to the sound of birds, rain patter and cool breezes. The home had ample space, with well maintained preservation of old aesthetics of the refurbished barn with all necessary modern amenities. Wish we could have spent our whole time in Ireland in this setting. Easy access to surrounding area with the ferry crossing at Passage East.

Step back in time

Absolutely stunning property and beautiful renovated barn. The front “main” room is gorgeous with the stone walls and candles everywhere. Truly creates a magical ambiance that warms the heart. Liz is an absolute gem! She explained everything and gave so many suggestions as to where to go in the area. Very low key way to relax.

What a place!

We didn’t really need a place this large just for the two of us but the pictures sold us and the location - surrounded by farmland - just added to the charm. Definitely would rent again and will bring friends next time.

It is the best property we have ever stayed at. It's location is so that it is surrounded by beautiful fields and away from the roads. The nights were serene. We woke up every morning to the sound of birds and cows. The rental itself was very clean and welcoming. After a long day of sightseeing and touring it was very welcoming to come back to and rest. One would never know that this was a converted barn. The inside of the rental was exceptional. The parking was fantastic, plenty of room. The hosts went above and beyond what is expected. They answered all of our questions and provided very good recommendations. We cannot express enough how wonderful this was for us. We will return. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay.

Super nette Leute und ein toller Ort für den Urlaub

John und Liz sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit - die irische (Gast-) Freundschaft kann man bei ihnen sehr genießen. Die Gegend ist schön und bietet (mit dem Auto) fantastische Ausflugsziele, während alles um das Haus sehr ruhig und grün ist. Ein toller Ort, um einen entspannten, irischen Urlaub zu genießen.

Rogula - the perfect family country retreat

Beautifully renovated farm house tucked away within a small grove of trees surrounded by rolling Irish farmland. Well equipped, spacious and homey, Rogula has definitely been added to our list of "must do again" retreats away from the city. John is an absolute pleasure to talk to and organise with. Lots of love has gone into the property, which forms part of a working farm. Day trips included beach walks and swims at the nearby villages and beaches on Hook Peninsula, Duncanon, Booley Bay and Fethard on Sea to name a few. Walking distance to wonderful pub and restaurant The Hollow Bar. Best seafood we've had in years! The ferry over towards Waterford is only a few minutes drive down the road and such a scenic experience. In the evenings enjoy the sprawling view with a few drinks or curl up in front of the wood fire inside. Space for all ages to play and enjoy the peace of the country side.

Alt fungerede fint og vi var super glade for huset og stedet. Blev dog overrasket over, at laden ikke var med i lejen, da de er en del af billedserien på hjemmesiden. Dette giver også en anden kvadratmeter optælling end angivet.

Our party of four adults were all very impressed with the farmhouse on the property, which was well away off the beaten path. It had a lovely view of the surrounding area, plus all of the needed amenities, and was quite comfortable and cozy.

Amazing place to spend a week!

This was an awesome home base for myself and family of 5 to spend a week vacationing in Ireland! From the farm we were able to take many close day trips to amazing destinations via car and car ferry. The home itself is warm and cozy yet big enough to spread out as well. Laundry facilities and amenities were excellent as was the owner John and caretaker Eileen! My family and I loved our stay here!

John the owner and Eileen the caretaker both made us feel very welcome. The property itself has quality furnishings with lots of space and light. The location is very quiet but still close to local amenities, beaches and tourist attractions. Would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend.

Perfect Vacation Spot!

We could not have asked for a better first time experience in Ireland. The house was spacious, clean and inviting - plenty of room for 5 kiddos/teenagers and adults.....oh, and the cows were so much fun! We also really appreciated the privacy and space for the kids to play outdoors w/o worries. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great home base while they experience the beautiful sites, food and people of Ireland!

Great renovation - great house for kids.

This place suited us really well. There's a chipper at the end of the road which covered us for the first night when we had a late check-in. I had a little trouble with the check-in instructions through John (we weren't allowed to check in until 6pm but had to check out by 10am) but all in all it was a nice stay.

This is an amazing property to stay at and within an hour of everything in south east Ireland

The pictures do not do this property justice in terms of the spaciousness. The downstairs has an open floor plan with a modern kitchen including a full-sized refrigerator/freezer. The bedrooms and baths were also spacious and modern. The house provided a large screen TV and quite a decent selection of DVD's, along with solid, reasonably speedy internet access via WiFi. We stayed in four places on this trip to Ireland and the beds here were absolutely wonderful with an ample selection of different types of pillows to make everyone happy. Unlike many places in Ireland the property is set well back from the road making for an amazingly quiet place to stay without the road noise we experienced everywhere else. The size of the property also allowed for a nice after dinner stroll that allowed one to stretch their legs without having to venture out on the roads. The property is very well maintained and immaculate. We highly recommend this property to anyone staying in southeast Ireland. We traveled extensively from Kilkenny to Wexford and many places in between with everything within in an hour's drive. Basic necessities can be found in the village of Ramsgrange, about 5 minutes drive. Increasingly larger stores can be found in Welllingtonbridge (15 minutes) and New Ross or Wexford (30 minutes). Anywhere on the Hook peninsula, all the way out to the lighthouse, can be gotten to well within 30 minutes driving. The owner and his family were great to work with. Overall, this is the best VBRO property we have stayed in from the US to Ireland to Spain to Australia.
