My grandmother died, and my family wanted to have her celebration of life during Christmas break. I let the owners know and asked to cancel 8 MONTHS in advance. They wouldn’t. We had no hot water in the kitchen our entire stay and watered down dish soap, so washing dishes meant I had to boil water every day during my vacation. We let the owners know, and they would not let my husband, a contractor, turn the water heater up because it was under warranty. They never offered to fix it. Very inconvenience! The resort was average and the unit is dated. I do have very high standards, but in my opinion it was subpar. They also let a contractor into the unit without letting us know. We came back one day, shocked to find somebody on the patio unbeknownst to us. I checked every other listing in Sapphire Bay and all of them have a refundable deposit except this one. Be aware (as I wasn’t) and shame on the owners for not refunding us b/c of a death in our family!!! Karma.
