This stay was off to a bad start given that the only heating in the unit is via wall units and the main unit on the ground flow would not work, it was single digit temperatures, and the unit was freezing. Heaters in the bedrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors did work but it was imperative to get the main floor operational. It was difficult reaching the property manager but when we did, they brought over 2 space heaters so by midnight, we were able to take off our coats. By Saturday, we had figured out how to get some heat out of the 1st floor unit and the space heaters helped make the space livable. The bathrooms have no direct source of heat, so warmth is totally dependent on wall units throughout the house. There were NO instructions detailing how to operate the heaters or other amenities in the unit. And the prop mger did not check back with us until we departed. Also, re: safety, the keypad on the front door was not operating correctly, or self-locking when we entered or exited the unit. As a result, over our first night, the door opened on its own and we awoke at 4:30 AM to the door wide open to the street, which is a back alley. Also, re: safety, the alley is dark and there is no railing on the stone steps leading out the door. The area was icy and dangerous. We appreciated the host amending our check in time earlier to accommodate a 5 PM commitment. But be aware that parking is away from the unit (paid on weekdays), on various side streets.
