6/10 Satisfaisant

The apartment door locks are controlled by a mechanical device, which controls the ability to enter and exit. It broke and was reported to our VRBO host. A property manager contacted me, showed up with no tools, and tried to open the device using a kitchen knife. He failed, escalated to property maintenance, and told me they would arrive in 90 minutes. He left. Later, he told me maintenance was not coming. He and a buddy arrived without tools but were able to open the lock. He determined it was broken, removed it, and gave me keys. While working on the lock, he said 'these things break all the time'. I had to waste most of the day dealing with this. Later that day, a maintenance guy showed up to fix our toilet (huh?). He made a call, and began working not on our lock, but on the storage unit's lock next to ours. Next day, maintenance shows up to do something to our door. I'm out, but get texts from the property manager, telling me to ok it. I say no because we have keys and I have no confidence that maintenance knows what he's doing. Property manager suggests I could leave the keys in a lockbox outside of the apartment. I say no thanks because the lockbox is made by the same company that has the reputation 'these things break all the time'. Best part of the story is that the apartment is one of many in a complex whose access is controlled by a door on the street. It has a keypad entry. But, that door doesn't even lock; you can just push it open!
