The Fuseta, according to the oldest historical reports dating from 1572, was known as “Fozeta” (diminutive of mouth) which would have originated from the fact that there was a stream called “trunk brook”.
The main activity of this village continues to be fishing and its derivatives, nowadays the tourism is due to the beach, the proximity of the island of Armona-Fuseta and the campsite that welcomes hundreds of visitors in the summer.
Land of fishermen, it still preserves many of its cubic houses, topped by terraces - the rooftops - with the curious balloon chimneys, characteristic of this part of the Algarve.
The Mother Church holds some good images from the 19th century. XVIII. Its churchyard is a viewpoint over the village, with vast horizons of the Ria and the sea.
The fishing port, colored by boats, as well as the beach and the entire riverside area, whose environmental recovery was recently awarded, are mandatory visits.
It says here "the sun wakes up and falls asleep surrounded by fiery tones". Huge expanse of fine sand that, besides being privileged with a beautiful sunset, has excellent quality waters. The crossing of the ria is made by boat from the locality of Fuzeta.
