These homes were perfect for our 3-generation family vacation. There was plenty of room and seating to gather, and options to keep everyone happily occupied - from the youngest to the oldest - whether they wanted recreation or a little serenity. The homes were comfortable, spotless, and had all the supplies we could possibly need. The decor was warm and inviting, and we loved spending time on the screened-in porches. The setting and views from the house were breathtaking. Steve was an attentive host, promptly responding to all questions and messages. We would stay at these homes again in a heartbeat.

Good time

Nice place. Had trouble getting in, but after many, many tries and contact with the manager, we did get it to open. The bottom door to go out to the hot-tub had a broken deadbolt. We ended up removing the part and covering back up to be able to get in and out the door. Quite a bit of garbage laying around the hot-tub...beer cans, etc. Generally, it was a nice open area with nice bedrooms. Cupboards and drawers were nicely stocked.

Time With Our Family

Difficulty using the code for entry in both units. Difficulty in lowering temperature in both units. Filter in dishwasher very dirty, washed most by hand and used paper plates instead. The dinner plates provided are too large to stand up in racks and allow the spraying arm to revolve. Coffee pot took about an hour to brew coffee. Furniture was very uncomfortable, hard to get out of. I don’t like to complain but these issues really need to be improved. SORRY.!!!!

40th anniversary gathering

The houses were clean and as advertised. Each bedroom had an attached bathroom which was greatly appreciated. Stephen was very accommodating and available. Would definitely stay at HALM property again.

Wonderful vacation

Family weekend

We booked both houses for our annual family weekend (plus a few others close by) and they worked out great for our large group. The kids could easily play in between and navigate safely between the 2 homes and there were multiple other rentals in very close proximity. The open space was great for hosting dinner, and there were enough bathrooms for every family to have their own plus more. The kids were bummed they couldn't use the hot tubs, but with the warm temps that didn't end up really being an issue. Overall we highly enjoyed our stay.

Wedding Home Base

We stayed for a long weekend for our wedding in Galena. This was a great place to host our bridal party and enjoy a lot of quality time with our friends! The owners club is a very nice perk with access to the pool and fitness center!

Best Family Stay EVER!

Nineteen of us,ages 3 to 70, arrived at Canterbury Court for a three-day stay. This is our ninth year of family vacations, & our crowd agreed this spot was the best so far! Would recommend it for everyone who wants to make beautiful memories with loved ones!

Great family trip

We had ages 1-82 stay at both houses! Everything was wonderful especially the bedroom to bathroom ratio, kitchen amenities, pool table and hot tub! If I had to make a suggestion it would be to add 2 more dish towels and 2-4 wash cloths for the kitchen. We had a super time and would book again!

Spacious home!

Great place for a large group to gather.. #6 has the larger living space and that's where our group gathered. Most beds were king size. One bedroom upstairs the rest in the basement. All bedrooms had a bathroom plus a couple 1/2 baths. Kitchen was very well furnished. Kids had a blast at the pool at the owners club. It was nice and warm. Had a basketball hoop and they had a movie going in the area as well, kind of fun! Can't think of anything that would have made it better.

Autumn Getaway

A large group of friends (14) stayed for a long weekend. Everyone had their own bedroom and bath; the larger house accommodated us all for meals; the hot tubs were a hit; and the owner was very responsive. A wonderful trip with great memories!

75th birthday celebration weekend

We rented both #6 and #4 and had 15 adults ranging from 38 to 75 years of age. The house was very clean and well stocked. Plenty of seating inside and out. Steve was very responsive to questions before and during the rental. Getting between the 2 houses was easy as they are side by side. We have a member of our family that has mobility issues. There is one step on to the porch and one step into the house. The main floor has a bedroom and bathroom (with a walk in shower) and access to the kitchen, living and dining areas and outside deck. It was easy for her to get around. The downstairs of each house has additional bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. Linens were clean and beds were comfortable. The house has one coffee maker but brought a second one with us as our group is filled with coffee drinks that don't like to wait for the second pot to be brewed. Keeping the house cool on warm days or if you're using the oven was not an issue and there are several ceiling fans and an additional air con unit on the main floor. Trees surrounding the house make for a peaceful vibe and the screened in deck makes a great area for morning coffee of evening beverages. It's an easy drive to downtown Galena and close to many local attractions. I would not hesitate to rent either house (or both if you have a large group). We had a great experience and made wonderful memories.

Wonderful Location!

Having the two houses was perfect for our family reunion. It was private, lots of gathering space, and to top it off each bedroom had its own bathroom. A trip to Galena is a must if you visit this area. We had a great time!

Wonderful get away

Group of 16. (2 houses) we had a wonderful time. Weather was great. The house was beautiful and everything we asked for. Well supplies with items you will need to prep food easily. Grilled meats. Many wonderful memories were made. We have been doing this for 34 years. First time for houses. Plan to do this again. Thanks Karen and Bruce

We stayed here for a friends bachelorette party. There was miscommunication with the cleaning people; however, Steven was able to address it right away. The quick solution put in place made it for a great weekend!
