Wnen cold sandwiches came with chips quality was v poor - drie out bread a scraping of butter and over-fried oily chips - definitely not a 4 Star hotel - younger bar tender needs training on customer service and attitude. 'This small hotel is located next to the River Wyre and has some lovely rooms. I stayed 4 night with them at 75 pounds per night including breakfast. The room was very nice, with lovely large bed, view of the river and great shower. The room was recently re-done and has great wallpaper. The food is very good, the breakfast has some excellent old time favourites on the menu, like soft boiled eggs with soldiers, and porridge. But it is all home cooked and tastes very fresh and lovely. 'Excellent experience from the moment we arrived at check in to checking out after two fabulous nights. The staff were fabulous, warm and friendly. 'The stork hotel/pub was perfect for our first trip away with our puppy. The staff were friendly and welcoming the meals in the evening were lovely. The only complaint we have was breakfast took over an hr to arrive after we mentioned to them we were still waiting for it & a waitress apologised claiming that it was all her fault. When it did arrive the sausages were dried up the bacon was overdone & the fried eggs were hard. Apart from that everything else was great.'

Lighting in the bathroom is always an issue for me (!) so as usual I had my mirror on the window sill in search of natural light. We ate in the pub on the first night, sharing a platter. Good menu.
