'The pool lounger system is the one major flaw here, and it needs fixing. Guests go out around breakfast, leave belongings on loungers, and effectively reserve them for the entire day - often while the loungers sit empty for hours. At peak times, this creates long queues, and you can expect to wait 1-2+ hours for a lounger (even though many sit empty) simply because others are hoarding spots. Management needs to enforce a clear time limit for unattended loungers and stop guests from “saving”...

'Hotel Royal Victoria was an overall wonderful experience. Varenna was crowded with tourists but our refuge was the Hotel, its relaxed vibe, comfortable rooms, and its superior staff. Whatever we needed, it was taken care of: Hard to get dinner reservations, shuttle rides to difficult locations, accurate guidance for the ferry system, etc. The morning breakfast was outstanding and the pizzas at The Grill were delicious. Room view overlooking the lake and Belaggio was icing on the cake each day...

The property has an incredible location and beautiful views of Lake Como, but the hotel itself feels very dated and in need of significant renovation.
