  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

A great place. My wife and I and another couple spent two days and had a great time. The unit was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. On Saturday night we were going to hit a couple of the local hot spots but opted instead to stay in and turn on the fireplace and be comfortable. The owner, Tom was pleasant and accommodating.

This property is ideal for our purpose of visiting family and friends in. Columbus. Ideally located, great facilities, rooms are clean and comfortable. We have stayed here several times in the past and will continue in the future.On a separate note the check in process this time was unacceptable. The lock box to our property was jammed and would not open. It took numerous calls and a significant amount of time to resolve the issue. Once resolved the lock box that we were changed to did not have a parking pass further delaying our access. I would suggest that someone on the onsite team check every box prior to the arrival of a guest to assure it is functioning correctly and contains the appropriate access items.

I will not stay in this unit again.Had multiple issues that were discussed with owner……all he did was defer to building management…..TV did not work…. Told ownerA box of corroded batteries were dropped off and left on LR tableBathroom sink only filled, did not drain….Shower had mold in all grout lines…..AC/Boiler unit unit in closet was unbelievably loudHad to shut Bedroom doors and still was loud.Upstairs neighbors up ALL night stomping on floor (All 3 nights of 4 night stay)It was so bad that next door neighbor knocked on door in morning to ask if we heard the racket!We wound up leaving before stay was over……Reached out to owner to request refund for last night and he said he would reach out to building management…..That was last Sunday…… he hasn’t responded since!!Worst stay EVER in a VRBO unit…..

We stayed at this beautiful apartment in Columbus during my son’s orientation at The Ohio State University. The location was 5 minutes driving from campus, making drop‑offs, visits, and game‑day plans incredibly convenient. From the moment we arrived, everything was spotlessly clean, exactly matching the listing photos and surpassing our expectations. The space felt modern and thoughtfully designed, with comfortable furnishings, strong water pressure in the shower, and a well‑equipped kitchen. Check‑in was seamless, and the communication with the host was outstanding—responsive and helpful. We also appreciated that the neighborhood felt quiet and safe, yet still vibrant and close to restaurants, coffee shops, and campus amenities.All in all, this rental exceeded our expectations in every way. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for a clean, cozy, and conveniently located base that was just steps from OSU.

Overall Great Stay!

One thing that would have improved our stay would be more towels. However, parking was incredible, especially parking on the 3rd floor where the apartment was located was so convenient. The location of the apartment was good, not far from the highway and was a safe neighborhood.

Great Location & Affordable

This was a great location. Convenient to restaurants, was only @1 1/2 miles to Ohio State football stadium, grocery shopping was not far away. Garage parking was great! Beds were very comfortable and the living spaces were spacious and well set up. There is a nice pool area that will be crowded if it's a hot day, and there were pool tables available for use. We enjoyed our stay!Some things to note - overall it was clean, but they do need to check the kurg more carefully, need to clean the bathroom fans and need to either wash or replace the comforter on the king size bed (looks to have some stains on the corner). Also the rental faces a busy street, which was a bit on the louder side a few times in the over night hours.

Great location and spacioius

Very clean and spacious. Nice location to restaurants and bars. Easy check in and out. Free parking! Not a lot of kitchen dishes or pans if you want to cook there.

OKish Memorial Day Weekend

The property overall was nice and appealing looks wise, however the Internet and remotes didn't always work (we had issues with the TV remote (none of it worked, had to do manually on TV) and light/fan(unable to turn off light and have fan running) remote in the living room). Internet was almost non-existent, however one of our guests (three) wasn't even able to ever connect the Internet throughout the entire trip. Also would have been nice to have a larger table that at least sits four people vs a small table and the isalnd. Toilet paper was subpar, thinner than what you get even at hotels. Love that it was animal friendly, but was worried about my dog scratching the leather couch. Also if your dog is used to free space in a large green area, this location is very much middle of the city so there isn't a ton of green space.

Great space in unit for 4 people. Complex was well kept. We are from rural Alaska, so the noise of the city was too loud for us the first night. Second night the giant fan worked like a charm. We would stay here again !!

Nice weekend for graduation.

This apartment was in a great location for us as it was graduation weekend. Two full bedrooms and two full baths were appreciated. It was very clean and ready for us at 4 PM. We did leave comments regarding needing another key fob, more towels, and basic kitchen items. We were just there for two nights, but it was worth it!
