Very nice house in an excellent location. Very clean and many nice amenities. My only complaints are 1) the grass in the back yard was knee high and therefor the yard was unusable and 2) the dock was disassembled and therefore made it very cumbersome to access the water for swimming, canoeing, kayaking. This is twice now we have stayed and dock not in water. Overall, the stay was 9 out of 10
We had a great time at the lake house and skied Gore for 2 days. The house was exactly as billed and we had plenty of room to relax after a day of skiing. Canât wait to go back.
We ski at Gore every year and decided to stay a little further away from the mtn. Itâs a 20min drive and was well worth it. The house was spotless and had plenty of room. Loved the two loving area with the TV NOT in the main room so we could unplug. Easy to bring in stuff from the car as you park right by the front door. Just be careful with the steep slope of the driveway that goes to the lake for a boat launch. Need a good 4 wheel drive car to get up the driveway in the snow and ice if not plowed when you get there.
The cabin is beautiful and had all the comforts of home! Great location and the views of the lake are breathtaking! The use of the kayaks was a great addition to the weekend as well! Will definitely book again!!! Thank you!
We spent.
Time here while celebrat in our mother's 80th birthday. The home is absolutely beautiful, and suited our needs just perfectly. The beds are very comfortable, the linen's and all the other amenities were top-notch. We would definitely rent this home again.
We stay mid week for a ski trip with friends and family- there were 8 of us ranging in ages 11-47. Everyone had a great time- house was perfect with plenty of room for kids and adults. Super cozy and clean. Plenty of games on hand to play. Only 15 mins to Gore which was even better. We had a great time and plan on going back next year!!
Our family of 7 (3 adults, 4 kids) thoroughly enjoyed our ski vacation staying at Whit's End! The house is right by the lake with a beautiful view all around. It's super clean and well stocked. The location is very convenient - about 25 min drive to Gore Mountain and 35 mins drive to Lake George. Overall a great experience!
Whitâs End is the place to chill out and recharge overlooking Friends Lake. The lake was frozen and just majestic against the colorful background. We enjoyed hiking, the fire pit and a few friendly games of scrabble. We would rent again if there is availability. I give it a 5+.
We stayed at Whit's End to be near Gore Mountain for skiing. We were glad the house is located just off the road so it was an easy in and out since snow and ice are prevalent in the winter in this area of NY. Lock box is a bit tricky to open in the cold weather. The property manager was easy to locate and he came quickly to provide legal ice melt for the front of the house. The ride to Gore Mountain is approximately 20 minutes. The house is beautiful with a gorgeous view of Friends Lake from the living area and the basement. The house is decorated in a warm and cozy manner so it feels like home. Many thanks to the Whitman family who have gone above and beyond to make the house feel like a home. Thank you to them for their hospitality. Supplies were plentiful including spices in the kitchen and toiletries for the bathroom. Food shopping was nearby in Chestertown or in North Creek if you pick up items after skiing. There was plenty of room as the house has bedrooms on three floors with living areas on each floor. Even during very cold temperatures the first and second floor were warm. The basement is off the lake with a slider and is cold during the day and at night but the bedroom has a small space heater to keep sleeping guests warmer. We had a fantastic time here and would be happy to be allowed to visit again.
This lake home proved to be a sweet comfortable destination for extended family. Thereâs plenty of elbow room inside for everyone and the kitchen is very well appointed for those who love to cook. The fall colors were still outstanding in mid-October. We kayaked, grilled, took a trip to Fort Ticonderoga and enjoyed the sweet lake views from the comforts of the stone hearth in the living room. Note that several of the local Chestertown hikes have closed trailheads starting October 14 for hunting season. Although the house sits close to the road, it is pretty quiet with limited road noise. Overall, a sweet find and definitely on the return list.
Me and a few friends hadnât seen each other for over a year since first going into lockdown due to the pandemic. We all work as first responders and waited until everyone was vaccinated before trying to all hang out again. Needless to say, being able to get away to such a beautiful spot up in the Adirondacks really hit the spot. Being right on the water was a wonderful sight to wake up too and having such a well kept, beautifully decorated house for the weekend really made it even more special. My friends had nothing but great things to say about the place and we all hope to return there soon for another weekend when itâs warmer out. My thanks to the Whitmanâs for letting us use their beautiful home â€ïž
