Pros:-Quiet location with a beautiful view of the mountains and a great walking trail-Unique house-Full size refrigerator Cons: -Kitchenette, you could only use one appliance at a time (microwave, toaster, coffee pot, toaster oven)Staying here gave the feeling that we were visiting a great-aunt's vacation house. It's an older house and we got pretty much exactly what we expected: a place to sleep and relax before we continued our trip. We wouldn't stay here for more than one night but it was fine for what we needed. We enjoyed the sun room views and the peaceful area.We did not use the showers or the pull-out couch bed. It's a bummer for us that we missed the butterfly season by just a week! Would have been amazing to see. There were some really cool moths outside the house to view.
No door knobs on the doors plumbing makes a loud humming noise there was a tarp over the garage door and no garage door. It was the scariest place I have ever been. There was no inside door lock for the main door from the inside. The main room has a sun room off of it converted to a bedroom that was super hot and you have to walk through the main room to get there. I left and didnât stay the second night because of the condition of the home. There was electrical cords running all over the floors in the bedroom. There was no fire alarms nor a fire extinguisher. There was duct tape all in the shower. I would not recommend staying at this place. It was off the beaten path but the drive to it you def donât want to drive a sedan because your car scraps badly. There was no reason to contact the owner because honestly this home should not be rented. It needs a lot of work and all of our problems could of not been changed by a phone call.
Great Cats World Park across the road! Oregon caves nearby.
This was far more convenient than staying in Grants Pass which made the trip convenient and stress free. The home was older but comfortable. I am gluten free and need to cook for myself when traveling. Although there is not a traditional kitchen, we did well with the microwave, toaster oven with baking capability, a refrigerator and portable double burner.
Patty, the hostess, was communicative, helpful, and kind.
Great place, a cosy beautifully decorated old house with (unheated) enclosed porches where there is an added bedroom, half bath, service porch with washer & dryer, laundry sink where dishes are washed and the refrigerator.
It's an old home in a rural area, be prepared for bugs and cobwebs. We got lost on our way because we were not given the full address or directions beforehand.
INSIDE: The amount of space inside was great, lots of space for people to have privacy. The living room was cozy and great for family activities. Arrive early to start the AC, it was HOT when we first arrived. The back room was like a sauna. We all chose to sleep in the living room where the ac unit was.
OUTSIDE: We saw a few wild animals and found bear prints on our car in the morning. That was exciting. The yard was not in any condition to play or enjoy. The grass was dry and the yard overall was bumpy and uneven.
For me, I'm ok with the stay. Other more city types may find this place to be well out of their comfort zone.
The property is rustic, which in itself is not bad. However, it had not been properly cleaned, which felt very unwelcoming. There were crumbs on the kitchen table and the bathroom had not been cleaned. There was hair and other gunk on the sink for example. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect surfaces to be wiped down between guests and for that, I would not stay there again.
