The property is definitely the quintessential cottage get-away! You circumnavigate a good portion of the lake on winding gravel roads surrounded by trees before arriving at your destination. The photos on the site are good representations of what you can expect.
We were blessed with nice weather which allowed us to enjoy a campfire every night and enjoy the dock and lake every day. The paddle boat was perfect for our guests with young children and the adults enjoyed using the small kayaks to explore the lake. While on the cold side the water was still swimmable and generally calm, with small ripples when breezy. We did experience mosquitos and black flies (to be expected in June) but the cottage comes equipped with lots of spray and suntan lotion.
The green space allowed us to play games with the children (bubbles, ring toss, catch which we brought with us) and there were lots of other options in the shed.
Definitely bring lots of your own bottled water as you go through that faster than you think, and while you can drive into Bracebridge to restock, it is a trip you'll want to avoid unless you are also treating yourself to lunch or dinner out.
We encountered one small glitch on arrival and James was quick to respond and address the situation for us. While couples will also enjoy this space, we think it is perfect for families with young children/teens who like to be active on the water.
