L'horreur

Les photos sont vraiment très loin de la réalité!!!! Il y avait des cheveux dans la baignoire, et le personnel était juste absent.

Would definitely recommend

We had a lovely stay. The room was big and comfortable, and very clean. Staff were polite and helpful. Hotel is situated within walking distance to Bournemouth town centre. A lovely stay would definitely recommend.

Good location but needs money spent on it.

The hotel could be amazing; great location and beautiful building but the owner doesn’t want to spend anything on it. Staff are very pleasant but the hotel is more than tired and needs a full renovation. Great for a nights stay and the price was very low too, but could be so much better if the care was taken to make it right. I wish these people would start to realise that the reason people stay at the Hilton and pay top money is because of the fact that it’s clean, appealing and has everything people need.

Overnight stay

Great place to stay, every thing a little tired but clean with friendly staff. Buffet breakfast excellent, replenished regularly no dried food at all. Good choice of teas too and the pastries say no more! Swimming pool small but good for a refreshing dip, towels supplied.

Short stay at the Wessex.

Had a comfortable stay at this hotel although on this occasion it was only for one night.Breakfast was very good and the stay was very good value for money.

easy to find and only 10 minute walk to town centr

Check in was welcoming and simple. Bar prices are a bit steep. It works out better to buy a pint rather than a half - which is much more than half the price of a pint. Comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Would stay there again.

A mixed review

Was very dated,shower didn’t work, threadbare carpets in bedrooms, swimming pool and sauna and steam room dirty, downstairs much better and newer furniture, Breakfast was an additional payment which we didn’t know Before but was good, once we had queued for the one coffee machine working and for a cooked breakfast. It was very run down which differs from the photos we sas when we booked but busy and ideal spot for beach, local bars and restaurants and BIC. Free parking too

Lovely hotel, have stayed before. There was a party on downstairs but we were up on top floor so didn't hear any noise. Room nice size and breakfast lovely. Staff friendly and efficient. Definitely be back!

Tired hotel in need of renovations

The hotel was outdated and in need of a good makeover but according to another review this hotel is being demolished next year, possibly why there were bare patches on the bathroom carpet. The staff were all very good and we couldn’t fault the breakfast, dinner was a different matter. We both ordered the roast beef. When this arrived I looked at it and thought there must be an extra dish of vegetables but was told that there wasn’t. Part of a meal deal, starter and main course at £17 the main meal equated to around £12 which consisted of 4 wafer thin slices of “processed”beef (£1 in Tesco) 2 roast potatoes, tablespoon sliced carrots, half tablespoon peas and a small Yorkshire pudding. Wevhave “never” sent a meal back before, but we felt this time I had to. We ended up just paying for the wine in the end, £25 New Zealand Sauvignon, this was very overpriced as it’s available from “wines direct” for £10, a fair mark up would have been to £17-18. I would possibly stay there again but would eat out as there are some lovely pubs and restaurants locally

Old Hotel in reasonable position

Hotel staff were cheerful and friendly. The room was small, very clean but old fashioned and the bathroom was 'tired'. And this sums up the Hotel. Service was OK to Good and the lounge/reception / bar bright and pleasant. As with many UK seaside hotels the decor was dated throughout and the ambiance was subdued. Free parking on site. Leisure facilities on site but the gym set up was very weak. Breakfast was again Ok. Price was very reasonable - I guess this reflects the offer. I would stay here again but only on price not the experience. It was fine for us for one night

Weekend stay

Stayed at this hotel with 7 friends over two nights on B&B basis. We had single rooms which varied between rooms with a bath and over shower (larger bathroom) and those with a walk in shower. Former had a larger bathroom area but décor more dated. Latter had small bathrooms but bedroom area seemed larger. Single beds were small but comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of cereals, pastries and cooked. Staff throughout hotel were friendly. Location was not too bad with a short downhill walk to pier front and bus station, but that did mean a walk uphill coming back! Overall a good budget stay for a weekend in Bournemouth. We would return.
