'I've been driving by The Shoe for over 40 years and finally took the opportunity to spend a weekend there with life-long friends. It.Was.Fantastic!!!! It's cozy, cool, creative, and full of history! We were thankful for rainy weather because we did not want to leave! Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU to the owners and host for preserving this iconic York County site and for the perfect place to have a mini-vacay with my girls!'

'We were in the area for a basketball tournament and decided to try and Air B&B Vs traditional hotel room. The extra space and hot tub were great for accommodating our family to enable us to take a break from the activity.'

'Myself, my wife, and our dog stayed the weekend while I was in town for a seminar and, truthfully, I can't think of a single thing about this property that wasn't wonderful. It's located close to everything in town without being in town itself. It's right off a main road, but the cottage is set back enough so that it is not obtrusive. 'My wife and I stayed 4 night in this updated 1700s cottage that was clean and cozy. I’m an early riser so I enjoyed the early mornings by the fire pit and my wife slept in. We visited a lot of the area places ie Strasburg railroad, sight and sound theatre which was amazing! Went to Amish and or Mennonite owned and or run shops and markets and just had a relaxing time when we return to the cottage . The Meck’s did a wonderful job updating yet keeping it from the era. 'Absolutely gorgeous view/scenery, extremely clean, very comfortable. Enjoyed the welcome wine and Pellegrino! One parking space adjacent to house. While there was overflow parking just down the street, would have at least liked 2 parking spaces right at the home.'

'Much older home with 2 bathrooms ,one on second floor and one on third floor . There was an awful smell coming from the tub on 3rd, floor. My son being a plumber said it was not vented properly. Bedrooms were all upstairs 2nd and 3rd floor, very comfortable beds and clean, Stairs were narrow and hard to climb for the older ones staying, especially just to go to bathroom. Only 1 parking space for property so any extra vehicles had to park elsewhere away from the house, We had to be dropped off...

'Perfect stay for our scout troop weekend at Hersheypark. The house was clean and comfortable and had all of the amenities we needed and plenty of space for our group. It was a safe quiet neighborhood about 20 minutes from the park. As others have mentioned, the stairs are steep and the downstairs much colder than upstairs but overall it was exactly what we needed, would stay here again.'

'Martha and her husband are good people, their back porch is great, all kinds of snacks. I like pepsi but they had coke, just kidding, no biggie, it was great, will return again. Very enjoyable quiet area….God is great!!!'

'Wonderful historic building close to downtown Gettysburg. Stairs to second floor difficult to navigate for an older person. Hospitality by owner was excellent. Giving up a few amenities to be in such a historic setting was well worth it!'

There was a small issue with our code not working on the door when we arrived, but this was quickly resolved by the property manager and later on, the property owner dropped by to ensure we were settling in okay and to personally apologize for the inconvenience. We really enjoyed the personal touches and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice, quiet property with great amenities and responsive management.'

'This little farm house was perfect for our weekend anniversary trip! It was perfect for the two of us and we had a great time visiting Hershey Park. The house is about a half hour drive from the park which worked out great for us, and there were many little shops/farm stands that we were able to stop in while driving around. 'We had a nice 3 days here. But the house’s design is sort of awkward— we kept stubbing our toes on the hearth on our way to the porch, for instance—and it was more expensive than nicer houses nearby.'
