'Samma resa (vi hade två rum) Hotellet är nybyggt och allt känns väldigt fräscht. Det ligger precis vid Riksväg 70, vilket gör det otroligt smidigt och enkelt att ta sig hit med bil. Tyvärr lovar både hemsidan och skyltningen på plats betydligt mer än vad som faktiskt stämmer. Att hotellet ligger ”vid Dalälven” är en rejäl överdrift – det är snarare 600–700 meter till vattnet och älven syns inte alls från hotellet. Dessutom utlovas faciliteter som relaxavdelning, takbar och game room, men inget...

'No reception, just an envelope with name and some info. Bar next to reception was closed. Apparently there suppose to be a bar in the back but didn't hear about it. There was no dinner option in the hotel. room was ok. '

'The host is friendly, she sent a welcome e-mail and instructions early and responded on questions quickly. The house is a few km out from Avesta on river bank, nice and quiet. One rents a one room + kitchen + shower/wc whereas there may be other guests renting other parts of the house. The house and the furniture are pretty old, but fully functional (dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, etc.) It is the perfect place if one looks for a peaceful corner, wishes to make food oneself...

'Vi behövde ett billigt rum över natten vid en minisemester i Dalarna, vi blev mycket positivt överaskade att det var så bra ordnat med en liten egen lägenhet med kök o wc, uteplats o tv. Kommer säkert att vilja besöka Garpgården fler gånger.'

It seems that the owners did not have the spirit to bring the old house to a modern standard but, in my impression, they even tried to emphasize its small inconveniences. 'The cabin was roughly as one would imagine from the pictures. But the outdoor areas were overgrown and neglected: with very high grass; the access down to the water totally overgrown so not usable; the bench in the picture also completely overgrown and inaccessible; and the platform on the water was broken and not accessible.
