'Ideal - spectacular were descriptions I received when I asked family what review to give. We recently stayed at Carter House four days mid-September for a family reunion. Eight adults stayed at the house and 10 local family members visited. Large play area in basement was perfect for the children. Plenty of room and comfortable furniture in spacious great room for adults. Decor added to comfortable atmosphere. We had good weather so first floor deck with outdoor couches and table were used...

'This was a great stay for my group of friends who were in town for another friend’s birthday. The location was great with some cool diners nearby as well as the river! Check-in and parking were simple, the rooms clean, and the kitchen great with lots of fridge space. '

'This house has so much character. I loved all the old floors, fireplaces, moldings, doorknobs and just all the history in every room. It is a wonderful, quiet neighborhood and an easy walk to town. It is a very casual place to stay. It feels like visiting a friend. Nothing fancy but I felt right at home. The kitchen had everything I needed, the bed was very comfortable, the backyard is very private. I would stay here again.'

'Lisa & Alisha were kind and welcoming. We appreciated their willingness to answer our questions and be as helpful as possible - esp. since my husband has a progressive neurological disease requiring my assistance. It really meant a lot to us as this was my husband’s “final farewell” to his parents who are interred at Quantico Natl Cemetery.'

'We traveled from out of town for my grandmother‘s funeral. It was the perfect oasis we needed during our difficult time. The host was amazing with communication and making sure we had everything we needed during our stay.The house and backyard were more than we expected.. highly recommend! Will definitely book again.'

'We loved our stay and plan on returning in the future for a longer stay so we can experience more. It was about the same cost as a hotel stay, but with more of a home feel and a lot more room. I also enjoyed the view of the lake from our front porch. If I could suggeat one little change, maybe open the gym a little earlier than 9am, but that's all.'

'Excellent place to stay. Exactly as advertised n very clean. Alphonse messaged during the stay to ensure we had all that we needed and went above n beyond as a host leaving us a bottle of champagne n a card for our anniversary. Would stay again if ever in the area. '

'We were there to celebrate my best friends end of life. The party at the boat club was excellent. Our whole gathering was very beautiful. The rental was exactly what we needed at the time. Thank you for extending your hospitality.'

'Kitchen ammenities were wonderful from extra paper towels to sugars and creamers. The house was comfortable, well equipped, but one thing my family suggested was having night stands in all bedrooms. We would rent here again'

'EVERYTHING went very smoothly. I’ve never booked our family vacations (I’m 70 years old!!) I was concerned about it being a gated community (nope, never had to deal with that either). The hosts were very patient and thoughtful about all my questions and concerns. The house suited us perfectly and everything was there that was needed and even wanted. There were 4 young teenage boys and they were never bored. The kitchen had every appliance we needed. Only had trouble finding the vegetable peeler....
