Welcome to our cozy holiday apartment in Bad Kohlgrub – the perfect base for hikers, cyclists, mountain bikers and winter sports enthusiasts looking to explore the Ammergau Alps together.

Whether you’re planning a hiking holiday with the family, a mountain biking weekend with friends or a winter getaway in the mountains, you’ll enjoy a central location in Bad Kohlgrub while still being just moments away from nature. Hiking and cycling tours can be started right behind the house. After an active day outdoors, a comfortable apartment with plenty of space to relax together awaits you.

The apartment accommodates up to 6 guests and offers three separate bedrooms:

• 1 bedroom with a king-size double bed (1.80 m / 5.9 ft wide)
• 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed (1.60 m / 5.25 ft wide)

With three separate bedrooms, the apartment is particularly comfortable for groups of up to 6 guests – for example, three couples can each enjoy the privacy of their own bedroom.

Bed linen and towels are provided and will be ready for you upon arrival.

After a day in the mountains, make yourself comfortable on the large sofa in the living room, relax together or enjoy a movie night.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for self-catering and cooking together, including an oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, pots and pans. A few kitchen essentials such as oil, salt and pepper are also provided.

Especially convenient when travelling as a group: in addition to the main bathroom with toilet, the apartment has a separate guest toilet.

From the outdoor area and two of the bedrooms, you can enjoy views towards the Hörnle mountain.

Hiking in the Ammergau Alps

If you love exploring on foot, your day can begin almost right outside the front door. Hiking trails can be accessed directly behind the house, making it easy to head out and explore the surrounding countryside.

The Hörnlebahn cable car is around a 3-minute drive or a 20-minute walk away. It takes you comfortably up the Hörnle, a wonderful starting point for hikes and mountain adventures in the Ammergau Alps. Please check the current operating status before your visit, as the cable car has been undergoing renovation.

From leisurely days surrounded by nature to more challenging hikes, the region offers plenty of opportunities to experience the mountains at your own pace.

Cycling & mountain biking:
You can also start your cycling adventures directly from the apartment. Bad Kohlgrub and the surrounding Ammergau Alps offer a variety of routes for both leisure cyclists and more ambitious mountain bikers.

A covered bicycle storage area is available at the house.

After a long day of hiking or cycling, you’ll also appreciate the washing machine in the basement, which is available for you to use during your stay. It’s perfect for freshening up your sportswear during a longer active holiday.

Winter in the mountains:
Bad Kohlgrub is also a great base for active days during the colder months. Skiing, sledding and other winter sports are available in the surrounding area.

Spend your day enjoying the winter landscape before returning to the warmth and comfort of the apartment for a relaxing evening together.

Summer days at Lake Staffelsee:
On warm summer days, Lake Staffelsee is around a 10-minute drive away.

Enjoy swimming, relaxing by the water or taking a boat trip to experience the beautiful scenery from the lake. It’s the perfect way to combine an active hiking or cycling holiday with a relaxing day by the water.

Explore the surrounding area:
If you’d like to take a day off from hiking and cycling, there is plenty more to discover nearby.

Popular destinations include:
• Glentleiten Open-Air Museum – approx. 24 km
• Werdenfels Castle Ruins – approx. 28 km
• Garmisch-Partenkirchen – approx. 31 km
• Neuschwanstein Castle – perfect for a day trip

Bad Kohlgrub is therefore an excellent base not only for exploring the Ammergau Alps, but also for discovering some of the highlights of southern Bavaria.

Despite being so close to nature, you’ll be staying centrally in Bad Kohlgrub. A bakery and supermarket are just a few minutes’ walk away, so you can easily leave the car behind for your everyday shopping.

Two free parking spaces are available directly in front of the property – particularly convenient for families or groups of friends arriving in two cars.
