We recently stayed at this truly unique property with 11 people (6 adults and 5 children) while celebrating my mother’s 70th birthday. The house itself was a one-of-a-kind experience—every bedroom had its own theme, and the decorations throughout were so interesting that I wish I had more time just to walk through and admire them all.The outdoor space was expansive, giving us plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. We especially appreciated having two grills (a flat top and a regular) which made cooking outside convenient. Inside, the updated kitchen was fantastic—two of nearly everything (fridges, toasters, ovens), which made cooking for a large group very easy. The dining room was equally impressive, with a big table that comfortably fit all of us for family meals.The mansion is historic, not shiny and modern, and that’s part of its charm. It’s important to go in with the mindset that you’re staying in an old, character-filled home rather than a brand-new build. Some things reflected that—for example, the bathrooms are ready for an update. The second-floor bathroom, which serves all the rooms on that level, had a few things not working properly. Also, there’s no washer or dryer on-site, so something to be aware of if you need one during your stay.One downside during our trip was that the previous guests had broken the elevator, and unfortunately the part needed to repair it wouldn’t arrive until after our stay.
