Built from the local, golden Northumbrian stone this pretty abode showcases the original roof timbers. Large windows in the lounge area, replacing the original stable entrance gates for farm horses in the past, create a light and airy living space with a log burner ensuring cosy evenings.

Longhoughton is a pretty, little coastal village, just 4 miles east of the famous, historic market town of Alnwick which offers a wide array of amenities including a cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops, a variety of pubs and eateries. Home to the Duke of Northumberland and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, Alnwick Castle is a popular visitor attraction and only a gentle stroll from the town centre. Don’t forget to visit the Alnwick Gardens; a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and ’poison’ garden. A great day out for all the family and you can dine in the largest tree house restaurant in Europe.

Once you’re ready to begin your Northumbrian adventure, firstly head to the hidden bay at Sugar Sands – an idyllic beach with views across to Dunstanburgh Castle, sited mid-way on the beautiful 20-mile stretch of Heritage coastline designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Readily accessible by public transport, this characterful cottage is only 4 miles from Alnmouth and the ever-popular village of Warkworth with its dominant castle, or head north and sample the world-famous kippers of Craster with the nearby walk to the iconic Dunstanburgh Castle, and beyond that, the iconic Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island.

This property can be booked with The Barn (UK36460) to accomodate up to 8 guests.

The property is not wheelchair accessible.

One or more beds can be linked to form double or twin beds (please advise the owner of your preference soon after booking).

Enjoyed our stay at The Stable, host Katie welcoming and helpful.

Enjoyed our stay at The Stable, host Katie welcoming and helpful. Comfortable and spotlessly clean.Quite central for exploring the many great attractions in Northumberland.Fabulous cafe/ delicatessen in village but need to book if eating in.Nearest pub was closed when we were there but found a cosy one in Ledbury. Plenty if useful information in Stable.

The Stable is a super place to stay - very modern, clean and comfortable inside, quiet and relaxing

The Stable is a super place to stay - very modern, clean and comfortable inside, quiet and relaxing sitting outside on the patio surrounded by the pretty garden. Longhoughton itself has a good cafe - the Running Fox and an interestingchurch. It’s also handy for local amenities and exploring Northumberland. There are supermarkets nearby in Alnwick as well as the Castle. We played both golf courses in Alnmouth (with good views of the sea) and caught the train down to Durham to visit the Cathedral. So much to see and do - not enough time. We will be back!

This is the second time we've stayed at The Stables.

This is the second time we've stayed at The Stables. The property is clean, warm, comfortable and very well equipped. Katie and Jim are excellent proprietors and it is apparent that they want their guests to have an enjoyable stay (which cannot be said for all properties let by Cottages.com)It's a 20 minute walk or a few minutes drive to the nearest beach. No pub in the village but would recommend the Running Fox café. Our favourite nearest pub is the Fishing Boat Inn at Boulmer. Until next time...
