This cottage is a great place to stay on Eleuthera. It is centrally located so you can visit beaches and restaurants in the north and south. Loved the sounds of the waves hitting the rocks Be sure to go outside at night and look up at the starts. Highly recommend.
The deck is the highlight of the property. We enjoyed breakfast, cocktails and dinner out there along with a beautiful breeze and sunsets. The space is small but has everything you need. The beach chairs, cooler and cold packs were a welcome surprise! Nicole the owner was very nice.
My husband and I stayed at the Buttonwood Cottage and had an amazing stay! The host was very responsive, friendly, and helpful. We loved the private balcony and being able to end our day with a lovely view of the ocean. It was a great central location between Governorâs Harbor and North Eleuthera for exploring. It was perfect for just the two of us!
This rental was everything we expected and then some. The views from the outside deck were outstanding both at daytime with a crazy amount of wildlife right below your feet and at night with the lack of residual light making it perfect for star gazing. This island is not like other Bahamian islands and not for everyone however a great location to explore from top to bottom. 5 STARS
Awesome view! This bungalow is cozy and secluded. The back deck sits right over a 25â cliff to the water. Great snorkeling from the beach with tons of sea life.
This property is listed with washing machine/facilities which it does not have. Also listed air conspiring which did not work. Ended up staying at another place.
Tiny house with everything you need except a closet They even supply beach chairs and a beach cooler. But the really amazing part is the deck on top of a small cliff with view that is 180 degrees of ocean. We didnât use the air conditioning as the ocean breeze blew right in the windows at the foot of the bed with the sound of the ocean
The view from the deck is amazing. Your front yard is the ocean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buttonwood and will definitely go back. It's tiny, but who needs a huge place while staying in Eleuthera? Get out and explore! Great location. Nicole, the property manager was attentive and responded quickly when we couldn't figure out how to light the stove. Great communication.
Excellent stay! Quiet and right in the water. Perfect for couples and great information received from the owners about the local area and all of Eleuthera!
My husband and I stayed at beautiful buttonwood cottage for our 10 year anniversary. We had the best time! The cottage was everything we needed. It was private, centrally located making it very easy to commute to all of Eleuthera attractions. We were very pleased with our experience and plan to return as soon as we can. Thank you so much for an amazing week!
Great little balcony over the waves and clean little cottage. It is what I term âbare bonesâ, but we didnât care; the view, location, hosts Steven and Nicole and nice little beach within walking distance more than made up for it.
This is an amazing property. It was private, clean, & great location to explore from. The deck & island breeze canât be beat. The deck goes right out over the aqua blue water. It was sheer perfection!! We will be back & highly recommend this location.
If youâre looking for a perfect place to stay with great oceanfront views every day all day and be amongst great people in the Bahamians this is the place. There are no crowds to deal with just you, the locals and your own schedule. This cottage is amazing. We like to vacation at our own pace while having the views weâve come to love being at oceanfront. We donât like the crowds and the tourism side of things so this is perfect if thatâs what you enjoy.
We arrived the first night to no power, which was not a concern of ours as we came prepared and expected it. I email the group as instructed and Nicole came over to greet us and tell us what is going on and as to why it was out.
She brought us a candle, told us where there was power and we took a ride and had a great meal amongst great people at Delish in James Cistern.
When we returned power was back on and all was well.
Cottage has all you need for a wonderful stay.
Once you get your bearings on how things work itâs relaxing, fun and enjoyable.
The recommendations are spot on. There is a store about 15 minutes south on your left that is well stocked. Prices are really good and very reasonable. As with all Bahamians owner is a really nice guy.
As far as beaches we really liked Rainbow Bay for a nice close beach to visit.
The Pink Sand Beach in Harbour Island was beautiful and not crowed. It can be a little crowded at the access but thereâs plenty of beach. We drove out golf cart to the south end and found another access point with no one around.
Also a must visit is Lighthouse Beach. Take the 2 mile walk to the eastern end. Absolutely beautiful. Walk up to the lighthouse and just enjoy the breathtaking views.
As far as alcohol or beer we visited Marvin Burrowsâ store in Governors Harbour. Heâs a very friendly guy and another great local to just talk to. For wine we drove to the package store by the docks in Governors Harbour. They have a great selection.
If you want some REALLY GOOD local barbecue go see Dwayne in Gregory Town. If heading north he will be on your left. Heâs only there on Tuesdays.
Could not say enough great things about Eleuthera, the locals, their friendliness and our cottage.
Wonderful cottage overlooking the sea, my comments won't do it justice. Exceptionally clean and well maintained we highly recommend staying here. Perfect location between Gregory Town and James Cistern, make sure to visit the local restaurants (Twin Brothers, Rainbow Inn and Daddy Joe's) Thank you Nicole.
We enjoyed our time. Place was pretty much as advertised. It would have been nice to have a "seating area" other then the bed or small kitchen table. While there is a TV, the cable company is bad, so there really isn't "TV", but we really didn't miss it. Even the WIFI, which as mentioned, had to be accessed from elsewhere on the propery, was spotty at best. The owners were nice and responsive. Maybe the biggest bummer is that there was no closet or bureau, so no place to put our clothes. Very nice shower. Like I said, as advertised. You get what you pay for, as usual.
After watching HGTV's Bahamas life and saw this Island I knew I had to come see it in person. It was everything and more from what we saw on TV. Buttonwood cottage was the perfect place to stay too. Cozy, private and centrally located to great beaches and restaurants. The town folks were friendly and accommodating. Steve our host was the best. Friendly and very knowledgeable about the Island and life the Bahamians lead. Highly recommend this property!!
If you are looking to get away from the busy life, this is your perfect spot! We were looking forward to visiting Eleuthera and it's beautiful beaches, and to not feel like we were visiting a touristy resort. This cottage is the perfect size for a couple, and has just what you need to cook a nice meal, and, we were lucky enough to have not only coolers, but also ice packs, and beach chairs available during our stay for a beach picnic every day. The back deck overlooks crashing waves with the most perfect soundscape you can imagine. There is no shade on the deck, but there is a constant cool breeze. If that isn't enough, you can enjoy the deliciously cool AC in the cottage. There is a beautiful small beach a short (really short) walk away, and all of the beaches that we drove to were almost empty and absolutely beautiful. The property managers provided a fantastic planning guide with all of the inside scoop on the island, as well as contacts for rental cars, trip guides, equipment rental, restaurants and grocery shopping, and pretty much anything you need to know for your visit. The owners are steps away, and very helpful. Every local Bahamian that we met was incredibly friendly. Be prepared to slow down to "island time".. but this is exactly what we were looking for.
I absolutely love this property! I came back cuz I love the deck. Itâs quiet and I love exploring the island, Cocodimama and Popino were probably my favorite beaches. The hosts are available if you need but you also might not see them at all. They give you a pdf with lots of info, theyâre quite clear about what the property is and isnât. Itâs not a luxury property, itâs not huge but the deck is amazing and Iâd come back again.
It was everything we expected and more. If you want to be in paradise and experience the true lifestyle of the bahamas this is the place for you. All the locals we encountered were friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back.
The room was exactly as described. Perfect for two people. Nicole, the host, was very nice. We spent many hours on our deck looking at the beautiful waters. Very windy on the deck a few days but we just found some very quiet beaches to sit on instead. Daniel at Twin Brothers restaurant, which is within walking distance of the vrbo, was very accommodating and they had wonderful grouper. He even prepared the fish we caught on a reef fishing trip for us to eat. Very quiet neighborhood. The beach near our place wasn't that great but there are plenty of others that are stunning. I would recommend renting a car and exploring the many beaches located within 30 minutes of the vrbo.
This is a small, detached efficiency perched on a cliff. Hatchet Bay itself is not a touristic destination, but that's why we chose it. Quiet and laid back, nothing fancy. Many more locals than tourists--and not that many locals! Gorgeous beaches, good restaurants, etc. are a short drive away. Buttonwood Cottage is a supremely relaxing oasis, and one could do nothing but sit on the deck with its gorgeous views for hours and be happy. (Watch for the ray that swims by regularly below.) Nicole, the owner, was the perfect blend of helpfulness and unobtrusiveness. We found it no problem to sit beneath the trees near the big house and use the wifi. Although the cottage description notes there is no awning or umbrella on the deck, two beach chairs and a beach umbrella were provided, and we used the umbrella on the deck as well as on the beach. We would happily return (and are already thinking about it : )
