- Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up from you accommodation situated in Brasov city. The reason why it's better to go there early is because the place get crowded during the noon and you want to avoid the queues at the entrance. Before you go, make sure you check out the weather forecast and choose adequate clothing, as well as proper hiking shoes.
- After a short 15 minute drive to the outskirts of Brasov, you will reach the starting point for this hike, at the foothills of the magnificent Piatra Mare massif.
- As you start hiking, you will pass through quiet forests, along the crystal clear river that will accompany you during the climb.
- In the beginning, you will go on an easy gravel road and once you reach the forest, the road turns into a trail with ups and downs.
- After about one, one and a half hours, you will reach a small wooden hut. While the guide buys the entrance tickets, you can choose to rest for a couple of minutes and prepare yourself to enter the canyon. You may want to put on a warmer jacket, as the temperatures inside the gorge are significantly lower than outside.
- After two minutes, you reach the canyon and begin climbing on the metal ladders and structures. If you are afraid of heights or you feel uncomfortable going through narrow spaces, make sure you tell this to the guide. Your safety is very important.
- While going through the jurassic limestone canyon, admire the rushing waterfalls than emerge between the rocks below you. Climb seven almost vertical ladders, going through the towering cliffs and reach the exit in about 15 mintues.
- You will then return to base on an alternative route, as going back through he canyon is not allowed.
- Quench your thirst by drinking water from a nearby spring and return to the car, together with your guide.
