The property is tucked away in a peaceful, secluded spot where the only sounds youâll hear are from nature itself. I especially loved the private beach, it was such a relaxing escape. We spent most of our time fishing off the boat deck, which quickly became our favorite hangout. We did come across a few bugs, but nothing unexpected for the setting. Overall, we had a wonderful time.
Very interesting home with a lot of family history. Piano. Guitar. Amazing dining room table. Wonderful upstairs suite with other bedrooms two floors away so lots of privacy. Kitchen looked well stocked although we ate all our meals at a relativeâs home. I didnât cook at all. Beach is lovely!
The house is lovely and the view of the river is gorgeous - especially the sunsets. There are huge windows looking out into the the trees and the river. There was plenty of space for all 8 of us. The kitchen has everything you would need - even popover pans! The owners were wonderful: when the kitchen faucet broke, they fixed it immediately. The private beach is lovely too - although we couldn't really use it that much given it was December. It would be great to come back in the summer.
The property is very secluded, You feel like the world is behind you. It is peaceful and quiet, The sound of nature will be the only symphony youâll hear. I love the private beach area. We fished and caught some crab on the boat deck. The house is a bit old but that is where the charm is. There was some bug in the house but that was expected. Overall we had great time.
The location is five Star! The house space is ample. There are numerous items (inside and outside) that need maintenance. I have never rented a home through Vrbo where I needed to take the trash with me.
The homeowner was very responsive and willing to work with us.
We did enjoy time as a family in the fresh air, on the water, and relaxing.
The house has plenty of room to spread out. My husband and I took the loft queen bedroom. My son, daughter, son in law, and grandson took the basement level. The rustic feel of the house is awesome and the owners left relics from their parents that add a personal touch to the house. Not just a rental!! And the BEACH!! OMG the beach is one of a kind, so much room to yourselves.
few things to noteâŠ
1. If you sleep in the loft be prepared to wake at 6:30ish every morning. There is a huge skylight right above the bed.
2. The stairs!! Lord help there is a million stair to get to the beach area. And take caution at night as there is no lighting on them. There is a ravine you can walk down to get to the beach, buts itâs better for a side by side, atv, etc. The bathhouse did not work while we were there but they replaced it with a water hose just outside the house to rinse off the sand.
3. You canât see the beach from the house. The undergrowth is very thick and blocks the view. It is also spreading over onto the steps down to the beach.
4. Take your own pop up tent. The little beach umbrella there just isnât enough. The kayaks and floating chairs were good. However the storage of these items isnât (stored in wood area at beach). You will need to clean everything before you use it. Most of the floats available have been destroyed by other renters and just left lying around.
5. There is only 1 tv. But plenty of games.
Overall the house is amazing, would return for another visit
Cannot beat this location. The private beach was just incredible. We came with two dogs who enjoyed going for a swim each morning. The kids loved hanging out on the beach all day.
The hosts were responsive and thoughtful. When we arrived the first night the lights were on and music was gently playing. Thoughtful touches that were very much appreciated.
We could not have hoped for a better experience.
We came with in-laws and our baby to celebrate her first birthday. The location is great - accessible to some cute restaurants and shops, across the bridge from Rappahannock Oyster's docks, and the house's own private beach is great. The house felt cozy and we enjoyed cooking, walking the pup along the fields, spending our mornings on the dock enjoying coffee and local pastries, and laying on the beach. Becky is very warm and personable and greeted us on arrival as she was wrapping up from a group before us.
Overall it was a pleasant and relaxing stay - a few blips but we enjoyed our time. It's clear how much love she has for her family's home, but also how new the owners still are to short-term renting. My career is guest experience for a major brand of hotels and short-term rentals, so these are key industry standards to point out as opportunities to improve:
- There's a lot of supplies to cook with, which was great but a lot is quite aged and some items are dull and/or rusted, which can be a real safety/sanitary issue. This listing would do well if replaced even with simple IKEA starter sets for pots/pans and cooking utensils.
- Switch to soap pumps. Used bar soap throughout isn't sanitary to present to new guests.
- Communication is critical and this was spotty and not ideal. I was nervous the whole drive down after reaching out for 2 days trying to get the check-in code with no answer (messaged online as well as left voicemail). A very sincere apology given, but not a great way to kick off a trip with such stress! Also people came on-property unannounced - 2 unknowns parked in the driveway and walked down the deck steps to use the kayaks while we were swimming. This was a very secluded private property and a private beach that we booked - so that's like walking into someone's hotel room. They said "hello" and nothing more. It was quite disorienting and uncomfortable. They walked right by what was my window - what if I was in there and naked? I got a call 10pm the night prior while asleep - perhaps to give us a heads up - but no voicemail left nor return to the voicemail I left the next morning as a callback. We were offered a late check-out, which we appreciated, but it was texted 15 minutes before the deadline - we were basically in the car by then.
- A serious amount of dead centipedes on the downstairs living room floor on arrival. It's a wooded area and mid-summer, I know, but not sure why they weren't cleaned between stays.
Beautiful property, hope to come back. Very roomy, complete with all essentials.
Needed some airing out and vrbo didn't send the door code, but it all worked out and our group had a great stay.
Amazing Getaway with on Private Riverfront (Perfect Weather)!
I had a wonderful long weekend at Becky's lovely home along the Rappahannock River. The house is large, comfortable, and obviously well-maintained. It's fully stocked with the necessities, so no need to bring linens and towels. The pictures do not do it justice. The home was just what my pup and I needed to get away from the city for a few days.
Becky is a welcoming and gracious host, and made sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this stay, and also hope to visit again.
In love with this home! Cozy, inviting, spacious, and private! The home had so many special touches and accents that made us feel right at home. We gathered in the huge kitchen and cooked all of our meals, enjoyed cocktails on the deck at sunset, and slept late in the comfy bedrooms. Everyoneâs favorite was the private beach. We floated, sat in the sand, and fished on all the nice weather days. If youâre looking for a relaxing family get a way this is it!
Had an awesome time relaxing with family at this beautiful house on the Rapahannock River, and watching the Osprey family on their nest. Also enjoyed spending time playing both guitars & piano. Our host was always available - though we did not lack for anything. We will come back!
Amazing. Wonderful. Beautiful. You'll never want to leave...
Becky and her family were just amazing hosts. The property is secluded but minutes from town so you'll really feel like you are on vacation but never far from everything you need. The views are one of a kind... trust me, you will never want to leave. Private beach and dock, spacious interior, and a wonderful kitchen to serve up family cooked meals. The beds are all comfortable and everything is included to make you truly feel like you live there. My 3 kids and I had just the best time. Perfect for any family vacation. 5 stars across the board.
Every year our extended family of 7 find a home away to gather in for Christmas. We have done this for 12 years. This was the best floor layout of all the places we have stayed. The pictures of the kitchen, dining room and living area are perfect. The Master bedroom is up one floor and very spacious. The bathroom had a mildew smell that the owner warned us about when we arrived. We kept the fan going and the windows cracked and that helped. Hope they get that fixed soon. Three bedrooms are downstairs and they share a bathroom. The shower doors need replaced but otherwise all was good. If you need to have casserole dishes for cooking bring them along. Lots of pots and a few pans. We made it work for Christmas dinner with some improvisation. The beach is incredible. We move around every year so we wonât be back but. I would recommend this place. The owner is super sweet and helpful. We were all very pleased.
Without a doubt, the best Thanksgiving yet! The views from this house are like none other. The sunsetsâŠwhew!! The home is so warm and inviting. We didnât want to leave. Becky was delightful and made us feel like a part of the family. I cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner even though it was just me and my husband. The kitchen is well equipped. The music library is perfect. So much natural light in this house. We will be back for another peaceful visit. Thank you, Becky, for sharing your family home with us.
As a native of White Stone I spent my youth on this beach and roaming through the woods before this home was built. When I saw it was available on VRBO I couldn't have been more excited to stay there. My wife and I were joined by my parents, daughter and her family. The large antique dining table provided the perfect seating for local family and friends to share an early Thanksgiving Feast. Becky was a fantastic host with lots of memories from the area. The evening sunsets over the river are beautiful. Deer and other wildlife take you back to a slower time. We love to cook and kitchen was user friendly it also offered a great conversation area. Its a beautiful setting in the tree tops on the bluff....Come and Enjoy....we will be staying each visit as long as its available.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR HOME

The cabin style home is nestled in the woods overlooking the river. The house is nicely appointed with everything you need. No need to bring plates or pots or silverware. The bedrooms and bathrooms had everything you need as well. The house has windows everywhere overlooking the river. I enjoyed the skylights in the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom as well. There are several steps to go down to reach the beach, so be aware of that. There is a separate walking path to reach the beach if steps are an issue. Overall we absolutely loved the property! The dogs were able to run leash free since there is no one around. The dock is a bonus if you want to go fishing or crabbing. If you want to just get away and have peace and quiet this is the place for you!
