We had a family emergency come up and had to leave the hotel after checking in 4 hours prior. The only things we had done were eat at the restaurant in the hotel and shop downtown. We were actually only in the room for probably 1 hour total. Expedia told us it was up to the discretion of the hotel if they would refund us any of our money and the hotel said under no circumstances do they issue refunds after checking in. I am a longtime Marriott member and have always enjoyed my time. I look for a Marriott in every city I visit. There has never been a time when the Marriott hasn’t exceeded my expectations besides this. Of course, I wasn’t expecting a full refund. They need to pay the cleaners and staff but considering we were only there for 4 hours, I thought they might be flexible. I was very very surprised by their lack of hospitality. $250 lost for a room we couldn’t use is a tough loss for my family right now but I guess it is what it is. Double hit because this was our honeymoon! I will definitely be checking out non-Marriott’s for my next trip.
