Comfortable double-bed Sidmouth apartment, a minute's easy walk to the seafront

“Shells” is a beautifully presented self-catering apartment, located just off Sidmouth's seafront, less than a minute's walk away from the sea, shops and restaurants, yet tucked away.

Tastefully decorated, the apartment offers a spacious, light and airy lounge with a comfortable corner sofa, TV and DVD player (due to licensing laws, we are not allowed to provide a DVD library but please feel free to bring your own DVDs) books and games for your entertainment. There is also a small dining table and chairs, coffee table and a private balcony with additional seating for outdoor dining.

"Shells" offers a fully equipped kitchen with cooker, washing machine (currently out of order), built-in fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and small breakfast table with two chairs. We have hopefully thought of everything you would need from crockery, cutlery and glassware.

A very comfortable double bed awaits you with 100% cotton bed linen provided ready and made up for your arrival. The two double wardrobes provide ample storage along with a chest of drawers with mirror. There is also a wall-mounted TV in the bedroom.

There is a modern shower room with electric shower, hand basin, WC, extractor fan and heated towel rail. Quality towels are provided for your comfort.

Night storage heaters and additional electric heaters are provided at no additional cost as well as an extra blanket.

A travel cot, mattress and highchair can be provided free of charge but for older (mobile) children, we believe this apartment is NOT suitable because of the balcony. There is a key to the patio door leading out onto the balcony if you chose to keep this door locked and remove the key but our recommendation is not to accept bookings with toddlers/ children under 13 years old.

For the comfort of other guests, we regretfully cannot accept smokers or pets.

Free on-site parking is available in an allocated space within the secure gated car park at Western Court. Please note: the space is a tight corner spot and may not suit larger cars or people with mobility issues that require a lot of space to exit and enter their car.

Height restriction applies on entry (i.e. not suitable for vans) or roof boxes. Rather than say we don't offer parking, we like to offer this tight space as an option, but also offer free use of a car parking permit for Manor Road Long Stay car park as an alternative but you may wish to make your own arrangements if neither provisions are suitable.

Manor Road Long Stay car park is approximately 600 metres along the coastal road. You can leave the car park at any time but entry back in is restricted in the evenings. Please check the council's information for up-to-date timings and provide us with your car registration number in advance.

If you have issues with access or mobility, please let us know so we can discuss if this is a suitable booking for you.

A lift is available that requires the manual closing of two doors (sometimes described as "heavy" to operate it.

****PLEASE NOTE: As of 13.05.25 the lift is currently only working between the ground and the second floor,,.not stopping at the first floor. We are very sorry for this inconvenience.

For your info, there are 7 steps then a bend then 7 further steps to get you to the first floor.

Or you could take the lift up to the second floor, and walk down if that was an easier option.

In the event of a fire, guests would not be able to use the lift and would therefore need to be able to make their own way out. Please bear this in mind when considering booking any flat not on the ground floor if you have mobility issues.

If you have issues with access or mobility from your car or may struggle to operate the manual sliding lift doors and cannot use the stairs, please let us know as this may not be a suitable booking for you.

Wonderful find!

We loved our stay at Mirella’s apartment. Communication with the host was excellent and everything was exactly as described. The parking space, in the garage, was quite tight but we were able to park and either walked or caught the local bus when we went out for the day - buses run frequently from the triangle. Thank you Mirella for a great stay in your wonderful apartment. Would definitely recommend.

This is a lovely small apartment tucked away behind one of the seafront hotels. Everything you need and a very helpful owner. Choice of quite tight parking on site or free use of large long stay carpark a few minutes walk away. Unless going further afield you don't need your car as everything is so close to the apartment. Great for a short stay.

Comfortable & ideally positioned.

The property is ideally positioned for the Promenade, shops and bus. Just minutes to all. It is behind the Riviera Hotel which is high class and faces the Promenade. This flat has a balcony and very nice airy living room. The bedroom although having no view is very quiet at night which is a bonus as hotel life starts early and can disturb sleep.

Everything you will need!

Everything you will need in this surprisingly spacious holiday home! Shells is in a fabulous location with several footpaths leading to different parts of town. Mirella is a so helpful answering any questions you might have quickly , thoroughly and honestly.

Great location for a stay in Sidmouth. A minute from the sea, just a few from the main street shops. Of which there is a great selection. Unfortunately, no sea view, but then it keeps the price lower . Spacious and well equipped, more than the two of us needed. A secure , if tight, covered parking space with a lift to property. We enjoyed coastal walks , which started minutes from the property, and a circular walk ending in the town by thd River Sid weir. The front doesnt have amusement arcades or tacky shops selling beach balls, just nicely presented hotels, restaurants and bars . The Marine is one minute away , nice staff and atmosphere, the Dukes is 3 minutes , outside seating just off the esplanade, and the Anchor 5 minutes, with excellent food. Lots of other places to eat and drink , just wish we had more time .

We totally enjoyed our stay, as the apartment sat just behind the Riviera Hotel with the sun shining onto the balcony most the day and just 20 metres to the seafront you could taste the sea air yet were quietly away from it all. The apartment was kitted out with everything you would need on a short stay- tea, coffee, salt, pepper etc and all manner of household products. The bus station is just behind it and if you come out of the front of the building and walk straight on past the Toy Museum within a 100m you are in the centre of the town. There is private parking within the block, though anything bigger than a supermini car won't fit, but there was a parking permit booked for the period of our stay in a nearby council run carpark. Even though we went during mid February the seafront was still very popular during the day but anytime after 6pm was extremely quiet, (can't see that would be the case as the weather warms up). If you like walking there is the coastal path in both directions, but l would recommend turning left at the seafront go to the end of the road and follow the river path as far as you care to go. Would Highly recommend a stay at this Sidmouth Apartment.

A weekend by the sea

Shells is less than a minute from the seafront tucked away behind the riviera hotel very quiet and peaceful, you will find everything you need for your weekend at the property the owner was nothing short of perfect in the information needed, we will certainly be coming back, the only one very small minus is the car park which is a ten minute walk away

A very warm, cosy and comfortable apartment less than a minutes walk from the beach, close to shops

The apartment was well equipped, bright and airy and the included free car parking pass was a real bonus. There was a surprise welcome pack which was a nice touch and much appreciated. Sidmouth is very well served with quality pubs and restaurants and a frequent bus service which we used a lot. We were pleasantly surprised by the weather in November with a fair amount of sunshine. The apartment is very close to the beach and the promenade is flat for pleasant walks. We enjoyed our stay and the directions and instructions provided by Mirella were first class.
